Steve and I got back home from Matt and Kristen's wedding last night. We've been catching up on some sleep today. The wedding went off without a hitch...at least for the most part. We got a frantic phone call Thursday from Kristen as we were preparing to leave for Augusta. She said that they just found out that Matt needed his Social Security card for them to get their marriage license. Of course, his card was here at our home.
So, we rushed through our packing and got in the car and met them out on the interstate close to where the court house was (where they were getting their license) so they could get there before they closed on Thursday. In South Carolina, you apply for the license and then have to wait a mandatory 24 hours and then get the actual license the next day. Had we not gotten the card to them on Thursday, they wouldn't have been able to apply for the license, and therefore, wouldn't get it on Friday, and therefore, wouldn't be able to get married on Saturday! It still makes me shudder to think about it. Now these young people are ages 26 and 28. Maybe, Kristen's mom or I should have found this out for them a few weeks ago. (RIGHT!) Anyway, it was a wonderful weekend, and everyone that traveled from all over the country to be there got home safely, thank the Good Lord. It's good to be home, and I'm slowly catching up with everything I've missed with my VR.com family since I've been gone. LINDA
