Have you tried and Internet Search for the drug names?

OR, ask the the package insert that comes with the original pill bottle (and a magnifying glass!),

OR, ask a Pharmacist to explain about the action and side effects of those drugs.

I'm leaning towards the second opinion option from a Major Heart Hospital as well. Dealing with BOTH an elevated HR and inefficient pumping action may get tricky and the drugs for each may interact in undesirable ways.

Enalapril

Enalapril

Hi Diesel

Nathan took Enalapril 20 mg twice a day prior to his AVR to prolong the life of his native valve. He is taking Enalapril 10 mg twice a ay starting one day post op AVR, but we are so new that we can't offer any ideas of how it affects the INR. Now the amiodarone is another story :)

He has no ill side effects from the Enalapril. It was the only BP med he was able to tolerate. Many others (Prinivil was one) did cause him light-headedness, some vertigo.

Good Luck on your research!

Ann

Hi Diesel,

Sorry to hear you are having some problems. I don't know where you had your surgery in Maine, but if it is not one of the top hospitals in open heart surgery, I would definately go for a second opinion. It sounds like you have a very caring cardio, but really I would still talk to someone else about your problems. I hope you are feeling better. I will keep you in my thoughts and send good wishes your way.

Update/Home

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and concerns!

I am now home (well at my parents home) and going to stay here for the weekend. I took my evening pills and "passed" right out. So i think it might take some adjusting to on trying to stay awake. Which i have no idea how this will all work while i am working. i need to take both of those pills 2 times a day.. But we'll have to see.

Im still sore, and my breathing hasnt improved yet. They said that it would take a few weeks-months until i will feel the true effects of these new meds. So i guess there was not "quick fix" feeling. :(

But i'm home relaxing and I cant get better than that for now! I might take monday off from work still.. I need to see how my groin feels. I still have a good 2 hour drive until i get to where i live.. But who knows maybe over the weekend, i'll be back?!

Thanks again,
Diesel :p
