Hi there! My name is Julie and I'm 33 years old. I was born with pulmonic stenosis and had my first surgery at 20 months old. They took out my pulmonary valve and put a patch over it is what I was told. Then on March 22nd of this year, I had my pulmonary valve replacement. Nice to have found a place where others are like me.

Hi Julie, what was your pulmonary valve (patch) replaced with? My wife has had 2 different types of valves in the pulmonic position, 1st was a cadaver valve (during a ROSS procedure) and now a porcine (pig) valve.

My son, aged 19, has a Hancock II (porcine) in the pulmonary position. It’s worked out nicely as compared to the homograft that only lasted two years. Best wishes on your new valve.

Sorry to hear that your son's homograft only lasted two years. Do they have any ideas as to why it only lasted 2 years?

He was only 4years old at the time and his body mounted a strong immune response against the valve. It went from 16 mm to 4 mm in one year. They placed a stent to give us a little more time.

Welcome to the forum! It is nice to have a community. Pre-internet, heart problems at a young age were pretty isolating.

Even in the community, pulmonary is somewhat unique. Lots of aortic and some mitral. I guess that makes you special in an already special group.

Hi there!
It's a bovine valve. The CEP magna ease according to my device ID card. I had my surgery at Ohio State and my surgeon said that he was able to put the biggest size (29mm) in there, so hopefully it will last a good long time before we have to do anything again.
