Another Newbie With an Upcoming OHS
Hello All
I found this forum on Oct 18/2010 right after my angiogram and it is a GOD SEND.A little about myself---I am 60 years old and had my angiogram on Oct 18/2010 our 41st wedding anniversary. My anniversary present was that I need an Aortic Valve replacement and double bypass surgery.WOW,what a shock.
I had a supposed mild heart attack at age 51 and spent 2 days in hospital and sent home .No damage all is good.Just before 2003 I begin to have slight chest pain and what felt like gas build up in my chest that would go away if I stopped what I was doing and rested.Went to doc and had second stress test and passed and echocardiogram and passed.Sliight pain and gas in chest continues from 2003 until 2010 when I tell doc again that i need some tests to see whats going on.(note that every doctors office visit i would mention my chest pain).
Now in 2010 I go for a stress test and fail, after 3 min I can't continue.Next is the echocardiogram and nobody tells me the results but I hear the person who did the ultrasound tell the doctor that someone missread my echo back in 2007.Now it is Oct 18/2010 and I have angiogram done and find out I need AVR and double bypass.Well I was shocked.
I got online and started to surf the net and found this forum thank God.I have read every post and it was very very informative and have come to grips with my heart problem.I have picked the doctor who will do the operation and am going with an ON-x if possible. We are now waiting for London Ontario University Hospital to call for my meeting with the doctors and set a date.
