Glad I found this website. I am at work and doing this on my break. Was diagnosed 23 years ago and had the mitral valve replacement done 02/27/03 of this year. Have a St. Jude valve. Mine was far too bad to repair. I feel better than I have in 10 years. I guess I had adapted my life to the malfunctioning valve so now I will be doing things I avoided before. Had some problems after the surgery with heart rhythm so I was there for 11 days. Was home for 5 days and back into intensive care because I went out of sinus rhythm. Went back to work part-time in 5 weeks and fulltime in 8. When I was diagnosed I was raising 4 children and worked full time. I don't know how I did it. Life is good.
