(This is a re-post from our "Significant Others" thread)

Hi everyone! My husband has been posting here for several years, as most of you probably know. We have that BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS baby boy who could not be more perfect!!!! (I am happy to post more pics any time you guys want!!! ) As you know, it has been recommended that I undergo surgery for my MR in the next 6 months (which I think we are going to extend to 9 months with the Dr's blessing). Anyway, at some point, I will probably be seeking info about recovery. But, for now, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

So...Hello!!!

Well hello Mrs and Mr. I think I recognize the character above. :D

He certainly does spend quite a bit of time here - should I be jealous? ;)

Hi Jaydee-

Welcome to the site. It's so nice to see you posting, we've heard so many wonderful things about you and that gorgeous baby. Stay with us, we'll help you get through the icky stuff.

Hello Jaydee,

It is sure nice to have you posting. Should you be jealous of your husband spending time here with us? No, he comes here and talks about his lovely wife and baby. You already feel like part of the family. :)

If anyone should be jealous, it would be anyone who doesn't have a husband like yours who talks so wonderfully about you and Colin.

He is definitely a keeper. ;) ;)

Welcome.

The lucky ones.

The lucky ones.

Hi again Jill. My husband hardly ever posts here, but he sure helps me an awful lot and has always been very supportive of me using the site. As a mater of fact, I didn't even know how to use a computer before I found out about my condition, but Robert has taught me enough in order to be able to use it on my own most of the time. Well, I think it paid off because I hardly ever go on to him about my heart and other things, but bore you lot instead!! LOL!! Anyway, how are you coming to terms with your heart issue and your pending surgery? Is that mitral valve prolapse you have? My eight year-old daughter has recently been diagnosed with this problem but my cardio told me not to worry and said that lots of women have it and are able to lead a perfectly normal life. Hope you're ok. Take care.
Débora :)

HI guys. I read your entire story. My wife and I had a baby girl 10 days before your baby boy was born. Isn't it fun? :) Anyway, all my numbers are very similiar to yours and I also have no symptoms. Both my leaflets prolapse and I have 3-4+ MR too. My ERO is .37 -- not yet at the magic .40 number. But, that is pretty close to .40 and I am heading in the same direction as well. I'll be getting this repair done in NYC sometime in the next year or two I am sure. In the meantime, I will be getting my ERO checked every four months for now on. Good luck and I am sure all will be fine for all of us!! Enjoy the baby!!

Jill chose November for her date with destiny. We're just waiting for the exact date. We're both pretty upbeat. It'll be nice to have all of this behind us!

I remember that there were like five or six of you that have had Cosgrove repairs. JenniferO, Bill Hall, MelissaM, Christine, and I believe someone named Gary. Have I missed anyone? I'd love to introduce them all to Jill.

That darn ERO! Jill was at .38 before the pregnancy but has slipped over .4. All these years she's passed every single test, then they create a new one and she flunks it. Bleh.

Hey there everyone! It's so nice of you all to come in and say hi! You sure know how to make a girl feel welcome! :)

Anyhoo, my posterior leaflet and anterior leaflet are both myxomatous but it is the anterior leaflet that is causing the problem. The doctor said the other day that my ERO is .60-.70, which is quite a jump from before! That's why we are getting teed up for surgery in a few months.

Right now, I am handling things pretty well. (At least, I think so.) It's still a few months away and I can pretty much live in denial until then. :D Seriously, though, Christian is definitely the worrier in the family and I tend to be more laid back (or, some people, including Christian, would probably say oblivous). Plus, with so many people worrying about me, I try to be a rock and show them that there isn't anything to worry about. But, the thought of open heart surgery is a scary one and it isn't going to be easy. I appreciate you all being so supportive and I look forward to picking your brains in the next few months!

hi Jill. I post on the site every once and a while. I just caught up on your story, and would be glad to give you any info I can to help you get thru. I had mvp repair one year ago June7th at NYU. I too needed anterior leaflet repair and was given 85% rate of repair success, before going to NYU. The surgeon really is the key to success.. My surgeon didn't hesitate that he could repair my valve successfully, and boy was he right. Cosgrove is one of the best so I'm sure you'll be fine. When your ready for info on recovery I'll be glad to help. At the time of my surgery my kids were 3yrs and 2yrs old. I survived two pregnancies with severe regurg, and surgery changed my life. Instantly I felt like a new person.

Enjoy your new baby, and best wishes!

Janine :)
