you go, Debbi!

I'm so happy to hear that you're up and around. Family makes all the difference, doesn't it?
I MISS YOU!!!! Pat and I have been thinking about you, and wondering how you've been. He'll be thrilled to hear you're doing great.

Hey friends

Hey friends

Your hubby has been on my mind for days now as have you. Your stamina and fortitude was inspirational. How exactly is Pat doing? My hat goes off to him for his ability to go back into battle with such courage. Such a trooper.
I was not quite expecting to feel this good so soon. As you know, I 'm just one week out and wasn't exactly Miss Perky at Cleveland. LOL. I didn't arrive back home in WV until around midnight Tuesday, but I was bound and determined to have a shower - no matter what! Dreadlocks don't do a heck of a lot for me. The shower, however short-lived, was just what this doctor ordered.
My biggest problem right now is this nasty reaction to all the surgical tape. It is raging tender, itchy, burning. I pretty much look like I have carpet burn from upper chest to tummy. I am not complaining though. Could be so much worse.
I am not at all happy with my big zipper. Is Pat proud of his new and expanded zipper? I have this huge bulging lump at the top of the sternum and then a Frankensteinish incision. So much for cute and sexy shirts! I've lost 14 pounds so far. One day at a time, but I am determined to get back to the old me.
The more days that pass, the less traumatized I feel about my heart experience. Seriously, the chest tubes hurt like hell, but for less than a minute. The removal of the pacemaker wires was such an uncomfortable feeling, but lasted oh, perhaps 25 seconds. It was more of the visual in my mind of the wires crossing over my petrified, tortured heart that bothered me most.
Has Pat been able to bounce back as quickly as he was doing before? Do you have him up and walking? How is his energy level? Can he tell already that the second go round was worth it all? When are you going to be able to get the heck out of Dodge?
I hope you arrive back in Atlanta to a very peaceful and serene setting. How are your folks coping? Your precious ,ever so normal 14 year old? I had several sweet emails from my students asking about me, etc and then about 15 emails from my students about their drama...you know the important stuff....how incredibly terrible the substitute teacher has been, how skanky so and so is acting, who's dating now and who already has broken up....you know the important stuff. I have also received the behavior rundown on each of my kids...according to a temperamental red-head named Katherine. Quite interesting take on things.
Well take care of yourself and AtlantaPat. Keep me posted on your incredible Pat and how you are doing as well.

Debbi:D
I get teary eyed when I talk about you! I miss you too! You were such a gift to me!

Glad to see your home and in the recovery mode. You mentioned you had a Frankinstein zipper, was just curious about that. I am not sure how they put me back together but I didn't have any stiches that I could see anyways and I only have a narrow red scar line vertical . Don't have any horizontal zipper effect lines.Maybe they glued me back together , I don't really know.
Good Luck in your recovery

Debbbi,

I am SO glad you are home and doing well!

I always have a reaction to regular surgical tape so I told them that and they used some special type of tape that didn't cause a problem at all. I hope you never have to have any type of surgery again, but if you do, let them know that in advance.

I had the bulge at the top of my scar also and it went away slowly. I think it was totally gone by the end of the second week.

Take care of yourself! Get plenty of rest.

Arlene
