As I saw the forecast for Saturday on Friday night, I realized I had several options to take advantage of the gorgeous weather ... temperatures in the mid-70s with sunny skies:

...wash/wax/clean my '87 MC LS (plan to do that next weekend)
...take my older 4 Monte Carlos out for a drive
...go to a park and walk around
...go for a mini road trip somewhere
...explore Meadowdale International Raceway Park, located at Huntley Rd and IL RT 31, just north of where I live in IL:

...among other things....

The option that won out was driving my older 4 MCs, particularly since I haven't had them out but one time this year, 2 weeks ago. I drove each of them about 35 miles ... in about 55 minutes. It was awesome ... and reminded me how much I really enjoy them.

Course ... one of these days, I really want to explore that Raceway Park, perhaps with a gathering of people ... and find a nice route to go for a long mini-road trip cruise....

So ... what about you? What do you most enjoy doing outside when the weather is incredibly wonderful?

things to do on a gorgeous day....

things to do on a gorgeous day....

- tend to my flower garden and flower boxes
- walk downtown and get an ice cream
- do a hike in RMNP
- sit on the deck and read
- sit at my computer (which I am doing right now!) sad!!!!!

Cort, I dare say I will NEVER know how to enjoy a day like you do! You give the phrase "carpe diem" a whole new meaning!

Glenn and I took a nice ride on our midlife crisis. We actually had to have jackets on. Didn't think I'd be wearing a jacket for warmth in July, but it was actually a bit cool on the bike. And since I'm always a good girl and wear a helmet I didn't have to deal with sweaty-head syndrome.

Then about 4 I went to Ignite Chicago and saw some awesome groups at Alexian Brother's Field in Schaumburg. I saw Rebecca St. James, Casting Crowns and my fav - David Crowder Band. Did a lot of dancing, jumping and clapping. It was an outdoor concert festival and it could have been 90+. There was no shade, so it would have been almost unbearable. It was the perfect day for that kind of activity.

Gorgeous here in Ohio. Chris and I went for a ride in the Corvette (top down, of course), had lunch and then sat for awhile outside on the local Starbuck's patio with our frappuccinos. Chris is off to work for a few hours and I am headed out to the pool for a soak.

My idea of a perfect day. It's all good.

LOL!

I hope this is a GOOD thing ;). He he

Karlynn ... it does feel weird to be "too cool" temperature wise in July. Both today and Saturday, I had a jacket/sweatshirt with me in the cars.... Tho, just sitting in the sun, the cars got a wee bit hot ... he he.

Gina ... I do believe I have yet to see pics of this Corvette.....

I'll bet you can guess (hint: My Avatar says it all) ;) ......of course, followed by a few cold brews on the patio.

We spent Friday evening and Saturday preparing for a backyard birthday party for our daughter -- her 21st, obviously a milestone. Makes US feel old, though. Had absolutely beautiful weather for all the prep work, and all the way through the clean up. Just perfect here in the windy city.

Sunday we got up late, then went out for a while and had lunch at the outdoor patio of one of the local Asian restaurants, just people-watching. Got home and it was too nice to stay inside, so we took a long walk (about 3 miles). Then it was time for some down time to get ready for the mayhem called Monday.

All-in-all, a wonderful weekend.

I like to start off with the windows open, lying in bed ;) and watching the sun come up....then off for a round of golf followed by lunch. Then it's open the windows and sunroof and off for drive through the USC campus;) ;) Then pick up my honey and drive down to the Vista for an early dinner and walk along the river (Columbia has three rivers that merge down town). Then back home to the patio to watch the sun go down;) ;) ;)

Hat trick:D :p :D

OK ... so, what about those of you who love rain? Ya know ... rainy days can be "incredibly wonderful", too....

Well, finally.....barking down my Pacific Northwest alley......

Actually, we've had the most perfect weather the last few days ....just another day in Paradise kind of sunny, puffy cloud, sunset at 9pm, 70+ days...... When it is clear, I love to go to one of the many, many locations to sit and look at Mt. Hood. Gardens are nice, with views, birds tweeting, breezes tickling your neck. Take a book, or just sit and people watch.

Well, when it does rain (rarely!! ) we do love our bookstores (Powells's famous City of Books.... www.Powells.com) and our coffee shops! So often it's just a drizzle and it is cool and sweet to be out in it. Very fresh and sweet for walking in the woods or through the many city parks (I believe Washington Park is the largest city park in the nation? -- about 130 acres)

Well, it is very cloudy this morning. But here, it often "burns off" by midday and then the afternoon and evenings are perfectly gorgeous. Sometimes, it burns off at sunset and you get a sparkly starry night having tried to picnic or whatever all day in the gloom :( .

It does take a certain kind of person to appreciate the greyness. I like it because there are no shadows and you can see really deeply into things. I'm also very fair and blue-eyed and so it is much easier on the eyes.

We get so much water from the sky that we have a ton of rivers and streams. When it's warm and the sun shines the rivers are full of boaters and inner-tubes and just people wading around. Summers are our secret!!! I don't think people understand how absolutely perfect it is here from July through the end of September. And the days are so long. Light from 5am to 10pm in late June, then waning toward normal as the summer progresses. (and then of course, in winter.... dark by about 4:30pm!)

Muggy today, too. Yuck. It was actually muggier here (very very strange) a few days ago than it was in Atlanta!! Hope this isn't a climate change thing!!

Marguerite,

I have been to Oregon twice and loved it. Flew into Portland rented a car and drove all over. Crater Lake is a blast and my fave is the town of Eugene! Happened into it late and spent the night and stayed three days. I just love college towns.

To the point, both times I was there a drought was on and none of th rain etc. Your state is wonderful!!!
