Anybody able to give me a heads up on what I can expect with my heart cath? Going in at 8:00am to get this done. I'm just not sure if they are going to knock me out the whole way, or if I'll still be awake.

Either way, I'll post my experience when I get back home. Hopefully around lunch time.

Take care everyone.

I think BMac's description is typical of many members.
It is not a bad procedure to go through, but not one that I relished.
I've had three, and I'm facing another in a few months.
Let us know your experience, but I'm guessing it will go just fine.:)

I was 'out'.
They put a plug in the hole in the groin. I lay on the bed for about half hour, given a card to carry for a month in case the plug gave me trouble.

The dr came in, told me I needed several bypasses, scheduled me for that.

Brother drove me home.

When brother had his, he had the four hour lie down afterward.

Mine was like Ann's. I was out and didn't have to lay in bed flat. I got to sit up some and wasn't there for very long. Good Luck!!

Had two gorgeous hunks pressing on my punctures.:D

Got stuck to the bedpan.

Minimal pain, lots of bruising.

Not a big deal, afterwards. Scary at first.

When I had mine I was in and out a few times and was not aware of what was going on 99% of the time. Then I had to stay on my back for 6 hours to make sure I didn't bleed at the insurtion site. I was out of work for a few days and moved slowly for awhile. I was kinda tired for a day. Keep us informed.

Bob.

Peggy - thanks for the laugh! I am at the "scary" part now. Can't wait for it to be over - the cath and the AVR!
