Dang Lisa, if I didn't know better, I'd say most of your problems sound exactly like mine. Our Profiles almost match to a tee!
By the way, I can't get to your web page. I keep getting a 500 internal server error. What am I missing?

I am not sure exactly. Try this:

http://homepage.mac.com/lisalee45/Menu4.html

that should work, if not it has something to do with the way the macintosh board is set up against windows. If it doesn't work let me know and I will send you attachments instead if you get me your email.

so our symptoms sound the same. Was is your dx. I am having the right and left heart cath. Oct. 18th and scared! then the Thallum test the week after. Just so dang tired all the time and SOB, tingly arms and pain down my arms. Also more frequent chest pains and major ringing in my ears with high blood pressure but I am taking medicine for that. Love to hear more from you.

I got to your site this morning. It loaded very slow and I'm on a 2000/384 cable connection. Must be something between Apple and Windows?

Your download speed : 1981065 bps, or 1981 kbps.
A 241.8 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 338696 bps, or 338 kbps.

Anyhow, I was tired all the time, short of breath with minimal activity, etc. I had an Echo done first. That revealed problems, then the thallium stress test and gamma camera images, then right and left cath, then a T.E.E. all confirming a 4+ severe aortic regurg. High Blood Pressure, ringing in the ears. I didn't have the pain that your having. I would think they'd want to step it up a bit and find the root cause of that pain.

My Aortic Valve Replacement was then scheduled and done. I'll spare you alot of reading here, but if your interested in the rest, check the post surgery forum for posts from superdragon and others. My valve replacement went fine, but they had to mess with my lungs and that created problems. I still have the darn ringing in my left ear. It's more like a miniture learjet idling on a ramp at the airport.

Don't fear the catheterization. It's not a big deal at all. The worst part is lying still and flat on your back for 6 hours after the procedure is done. If your anxious going in, ask for something to calm your nerves, but really, there isn't much to it. Sounds much more scary then it really is.

The stress test went fine for me up until about 10 minutes after the procedure. Then I couldn't breath and started turning blue. I'm not telling you this to scare you. I have lung issues as well as heart issues. I have hereditary pulmonary hemosiderosis or bleeding of the alveolar air sacks in the lungs. The stress test caused a short bleed period. Stress test is not a big deal either. Do Not Worry! It doesn't take long either. About 10 minutes, start to finish. If your going to have gamma camera images done, it will take up most of your day.

If you need anything else or have more questions, just ask. I float in and out all day long.

Ross,
Sorry about the long upload to the site it is definately handshaking between Apple and Windows. When I have a little more income I will get my own site back up done in flash pretty cool actually (If I don't say so my self.)

We have a lot in common. I have pulmonary Fibrosis and undergoing a lot of tests to be listed at Baylor Medical for a double lung transplant. That is a progressive terminal illness.

The ringing in my ears is going to drive me crazy!! mostly in my left ear...what does that mean?? Going in for the right and left heart cath and Thallum test. What the heck is this Thallum test anyway? I already had 3 echos showing moderate to severe Aortic reg. and mild mitral. I am involved in the fen phen law suit so that is more stress. A bunch of stuff going on there.

Sometimes it all seems like a bit much.

Lisa, must have been something on the server side of your site because earlier I couldn't bring it up at all. I try it now and it is lightning fast, and I run Windows (I work at Microsoft, so I have to! :D )

Nice site! I've been thinking of doing something like this for our far-flung family members to look at.

Johnny

Lisa, the site is fast for me now also. Below is a description of your thallium stress test. I would think that with your lung condition, they will use a drug to induce excercise level heart rates. For me, they used Cardiolite. Plan on an all day excursion for this test! You can read more here:
Thallium Stress Test
I haven't a clue as to what causes the ringing in the ears. They told me it would go away after the valve replacement and it did not. It's still with me.

One Doc was talking about removing my left lung. My right is in no better shape. They were asked about a transplant and I was told that my disease would ruin transplanted lungs, so that's a no go for me.

I'm about to get into a stink fight with our county and state government which will most likely lead to a law suit, so I can feel your stress in that situation also.

These diseases are not discriminatory when it comes to age. We're both too young for these terrible things, but all we can do is pray for another miracle. I think I'm running out of them myself.
That is a progressive terminal illness.
Everytime I read that line I pray harder for you. Lets see what God will do for you!

I'll keep you close in prayer and please keep us updated as to what is happening with you.

Welcome to the family,
Ross

Hey Guys,

First Ross thanks for the link I will read all about the lovely Thallum test and at least I know what to expect somewhat. I guess you can't really know until you have been through it. On the same note compared to some of the other tests I have to undergo for the Pulm. Fib. this will be nothing.

Johnny,
Lighting fast Well that is good to know. Now see if you I had server control it wouldn't be an issue cause I am on an iMac which even makes lighting look slow. So you work for Microsoft huh. Have you thought of going to work for Apple and work on real computers..hahhhah sorry couldn't resist.

I am so lucky to have found this group, this family and I couldn't be happier to be a part of it. Ross, there are still miracles out there I ran into one today 15 years ago. Will explain later.

Fondly
Lisa

Lisa,

Very very good! What kind of mac do you have?

I just got a new iMac G$ 800mhz with the new flat screen. it is SWEET!

Sweet indeed

Sweet indeed

Got the same one. Love it. Have yet to burn a DVD, but I definitely like iPhoto and iTunes (got an iPod with the iMac and now working on my MP3 library). The iPod is great to use at the health club.

The little clear, round speakers are weird and I just use them for paper weights. I hooked up my Altec Lansings instead to the headphone outlet and they sound great.

Cheers!

Stop it you two!
Now your making me jealous.
Someday, I'll try out the apple and then you'll all be in big trouble. :D

It's good for you, Ross.

It's good for you, Ross.

You know what they say, "An apple a day..."

Looks like our Apple discussion has gotten your heart rate up a bit there, Mr. Ross? That's good. Apples are very healthy for you. AND, they're much easier to fix if the gadget guru kids are on it much.

Speaking of gadget gurus, our daughter came home from college the other evening (she's going to school just over the border in Wisconsin) to pick up some food and her fall wardrobe. Anyway, she was fiddleing with my wife's new cell phone and quickly changed the incoming call tone to the clucking chickens sound. Freaked my wife out yesterday when the phone went off in the other room. It got the dogs barking and she even went to the back door to see if there might be chickens in our yard!

We got a good laugh out of that one.

Cheers!

Macs and hearts

Macs and hearts

Ok guys,
I think we should all hook up our hearts to our macs what do you think? I heard that my EF today was at 58% with severe Aortic reg. what do you all know about that?

Lisa

Lisa your EF is good! Mine was too, but I still needed the new valve, as my heart was enlarging. Danger in other words.
