Hi everyone,

My husband and I leave tomorrow morning for Mayo Clinic. :( I can't believe it's happening aleady!! I will have the battery of tests all day on Tuesday and then mitral valve replacement on Wednesday.

I am feeling surprisingly calm right now, that might change once we hit the road. I just want to be done with this, for the rest of my life. No more surgeries. I pray to God this is it.

I don't think I can even begin to tell you all how much this site has helped me through the last six weeks. When I had my first replacement surgery at ten yrs., it really felt like I was the only one. I never had anyone to talk to that was just like me, and knew what it felt like to go through something like that. This time, it has been so much easier because of all of you. I can have questions answered immediately and talking with those of you that have recently had surgery (Bill, Jacque, Lee, Bryan, Kathy H, etc.) has helped me to prepare. I now know that there are people out there just like me all over the world, from Australia to Israel to Ireland.

I will probably send a little post on Monday or Tuesday before I go in. My husband or sister will let you all know how the surgery went. This web site is wonderful. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

And Good Luck to Daniel, April, and Ronda! I will say a prayer for you.

Jen,
It won't be long now before the surgery is behind you and you're well on the road to recovery. I definitely think the knowledge, information and support you have gained here in the last six weeks will sustain you over the next several days and weeks. Just remember that we're all behind you and looking forward to having you back, so don't dawdle! Best of luck!

It'll really hit home when you go to enter the doors at Mayo. Would you like for me to send some of the boys to make sure you carry this through?

I'll be awaiting the all new and improved Jenlynn when it's all done!

I agree Jen,
Before long and it won't be long now, it'll all be behind you, and the weeks and months leading up to this will seem like a blur. After I was discharged, it felt like I should have been talking about someone else instead of myself. I kept thinking..wasn't this supposed to be a lot more severe on me than it was? Modern technology and the great people that are out there to help you get through it are what makes it so much easier.
My very best wishes and all the best to you and your family...eat LOTS of icecream..LOL.. I didn't, I only had two shakes in 6 days..LOL.. watching my boyish figure..

Good Luck :D ,
Brian

Hi Jen-

Wishing you all the best as you go for surgery. You'll be fine. We'll be waiting to hear how things went. Talk to you later. God Bless.

Jen,

We got back from our vacation just in time! Best wishes to you for a good result and speedy recovery. I know you have the right attitude and the personal strength to see it through. I will be praying for you and will keep you in my thoughts this week. Can you have your husband post for you so that we all know how you're doing?

Jen,

You are a brave young gal - I can tell by your posts. You will be in ALL of our thoughts and prayers. You are going to be fine and soon you will be months out from surgery and feeling so great physically and so thankful - with such a wisdom that most young women your age will never know. Life will be so good for you.

On the day of your surgery you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Godspeed!!

Christina L.
