I am so sorry to hear of this sad news of the passing of your mother. She is with God and at peace, you can be sure of that. Losing a mother is so hard. My prayers are with you and your family at this very challenging time in your life.

Georgia,

I wish there was something I could do to help. I know how hard it is to deal with the loss of a parent. Know that there are many people here who love and care about you...... thinking of you.

Warm hugs,
Rain

Thank you to everyone for the kind words and prayers

Thank you to everyone for the kind words and prayers

My sister and I returned home from Denver yesterday. My grandma was a strong-willed, chatty, spunky, (sounds just like Georgia, huh??) old lady of 82, in perfect health. The one thing she always worried about was lising her independance, being put in a nursing home etc... her death being sudden was exactly as she would have wanted - just harder on the rest of us.

Each one of you means so much to my mother, this is the best place she could have found for friendship and support - in all aspects of her life.

Here is the obituary: http://www.legacy.com/Denver/Obituaries.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonID=17176817

Georgiasdaughter,

Thanks for posting.

Your grandmother sounds like my grandfather, Dad's dad. In 1985, a day before they were going to put him in a nursing home, he died. He had sworn up and down he would NEVER live in one of those places...heh. And, by golly, he didn't.

Thoughts/prayers continuing for you all.

To all my dear friends

To all my dear friends

Thank you so much for all your kind thoughts and prayers. It's been a most trying couple of weeks. I really missed all of you while I was out in Colorado - just didn't have the oomph to go to a cyber cafe.

Mom's death was sudden and shocking, but as her doctor said, if she could have scripted it it wouldn't have been much different. She died within a few days, in no pain, peacefully. And we got to the hospital (after a nightmarish drive out) about 2 hours before she died. She retained her independence and faculties until her last illness; I don't know what more one could wish for a beloved mother.

I was just taking a quick turn here; we only got back a couple of hours ago.

Thanks everyone. Kiss your moms.

Georgia,

It is good to see you post again. Welcome home.

Thoughts/prayers still coming your way....
