Lewis Grizzard was a columnist for the Sun Times until he realized his mistake and moved back to Georgia.

His passion in life was:

*Dissing Yankees

Lewis Grizzard, They Tore Out My Heart & Stomped That Sucker Flat (1982) chronicles his first pig valve replacement. There is another book, which I haven't acquired yet, which chronicles a second pig valve replacement.
Twenty years ago he reasoned on a pig valve instead of a mechanical because medical knowledge and skill would improve so much in ten years that he wouldn't need repeat surgeries.

He used to live in Newnan, Ga. My daughter also lived there. They'd run across him from time to time at his favorite little restaurant - Italian. He was just as nice in person as he seemed to be in his column. I tried to never miss the daily fun. Whatta guy. I miss him.
