Finally out of Kansas and into Missouri. "Goodbye Toto." 1,307 miles. I told my wife when I get to New York, I'm buying a bike! That will be my reward.
Actual marathon training will start June 15, and I will be on a 17 week training plan for the marathon in Victoria, Canada on October 12. If I can recover quick enough, I plan on running marathon number 3 in Las Vegas, on January 25, 2004. Then I only have to run 48 more, one in each state, two per year, and that:rolleyes: would make me around 68 years old when I do my last one. That means I need to get another 25 years out of this St. Jude Mechanical!! :D

Wow, Mark - what an inspiration you are to all of us. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us - it gives us hope for the things we feel we might not overcome. God bless you and keep on runnin...........

Dude I sit and marvel at you. To this minute I don't know how and my mind cannot conceive the idea of running marathons like your getting ready for, much less simply run for fun. Coupled with your post about those spasms and well, I can't post it on here! :)

Nice Going!

Nice Going!

Hey Mark - Did you buy the extended warranty on that valve? Hope you at least opted for the 100,000 miler!

Really gives the rest of us reason to hope. Please keep up the great example.

No Steve, I got the limited 40,000 mile guarantee, but I figure that should get me to age 70! :D
Thanks Ann and Ross for the kind words. ... Mark

mark,
i hope you're ok... just read about your runs to the er!!! what's going on??
do you think it's all the running? you're too young for all those aches and pains!!!
let us know how you hold up, ok?
stay well, sylvia

I don't know Sylvia. It began happening before I started running. Their really baffeled at this point. Running actually gives me some relief from pain, once I start moving. I also have vision disturbance a couple of times a week, but again the nuerologist(s) with numerous tests, cannot figure it out. I have heard everything from a form of backwards migrain head aches; too something is wrong but it has not manifested itself yet to be identified. It just makes me feel like an idiot, when my muscles go into siezure, or I loose my vision and then comprehesion for around 30 minutes to an hours, with absolute exhaustion for around 24 hours, and then the constant ache and pain in my joints. Whether any of this is related to each other, your guess is as good as mine. (feel like a hypocondriac reading what I have written right now!)
I guess it is just the plate I have been dished. I guess as long as I can do my job and support my family, I'll just keep ... keep on keeping on.
I'll reply more on the other post later when I have time. I appreciate everyones comments and concerns. I'll be fine!

Hi Mark

Hi Mark

Good to hear you are still running. Lived next door to an ex-phy. Ed. teacher. Woman who quit teaching 20 years ago. Came home to run her Dad's farm next door. She ran down our dirt road everyday..then I would see her walking back and forth for a good 20 min. Asked her why..she said for muscle spasms (not to get them) Around the same time we put in a pool..Lots of concrete. I started having lots of pain in my lower legs.    During the winter I would not have them..Took me a year or two to figure out it was the concrete...Walking barefoot, vaccuming the pool..watching small kids, ect. Are you standing on concrete while working? The only shoes I wear now are Easy Spirits.:D :D :D :D They are great.Funny, how pain in certain joints can show up. last Sunday I rode with my son in his truck..20 ft. off ground:p :p :p He had to lift me up..but I would get out (several times that day) and be 2 ft. off ground. Woke up Monday with sore knee. Gone now..but will take a ladder with me the next time:p :p :p Tylenol works for me without any side effects to INR.. Take care. Bonnie P.S. Maybe you need to take up biking. Have plenty of them here in Mountains. They seem to love it.
