We have altaered the possible locations for the 2005 VR.com Reunion - PLease vote soon so that we can start making plans now for the best reunion yet..

I voted for the cruise out of Glalviston, but I would only be able to go if it were in the summer. My husband and I wouldn't be able to get off from school/work for a 4 day cruise in the school year.

I had liked the San Antonio idea because I figured, even if we couldn't make it for the entire reunion, we could get down there for part of it and meet people, since it would only be a 4 hour drive. I'm sad it's not an option anymore. :(

So, if we must have the reunion when school is in session, I want to "write in" San Antonio or some other Texas city. :D

Thank Goodness people have come to their senses!

5005 Reunion

5005 Reunion

I have been on many cruises and you can have everthing in one place. Plus the food is great and it comes with the price no out of pocket for the best food.

Hank,
I think a cruise is a great idea, but if it is the final choice, please let us know details far in advance of the date.
New Orleans would be great for me since I live in the central Midwest. I can drive it easily in about 8 hours. Galveston as the port city would add another day, as would Fort Lauderdale.

I'm for Boston or Philly, now that Canton is no longer in the picture. I absolutely couldn't vote against Canton.

The reunion choices beg the northeast entirely, so I have to vote my geocentric side.

Best wishes,

A cruise sounds interesting. I voted "other", because I couldn't decide on the port of departure. So "4 day/3 night cruise - port of departure YTD" would be my vote.

Any of the ports are places I'd have to fly to.

Cruise sounds wonderful

Cruise sounds wonderful

What fun a cruise out of New Orleans would be! I have never been to New Orleans and I think being able to expand the trip to include a few days in the city would be awesome. I would definitely take advantage of being there by exploring the city after the cruise.
Thanks and keep us posted.

Hurricane season tends to be till november so i wanted to stay away from atlantic ocean around that time. Out of san diego might be good weather wise and closer to hank's home than east coast. Course we can't always choose west side of the nation. Branson,Missouri is central and lots of shows, etc. Will be interesting on the outcome of the poll.

Somewhere On The East Coast

Somewhere On The East Coast

Hi Everyone!
I'm going to put my vote in for somewhere on the East Coast. I know I have mentioned this before, but how about Virginia? The Shenandoah Valley is absolutely beautiful in the Fall. Plenty of things to do here. It is also Centrally located on the East Coast. Can you tell I just love where I live? ;)
No matter where next year's reunion is, I know it will be wonderful.

Take Care Everyone!

Chicago?

Chicago?

I agree with Niki, Summer is better simply b/c I will be in my final sem. of college (atleast finished wih one degree) and hard to get away. But somewhere around Chicago could be fun - it is kind of f a meet in the middle state/city. I of course choose anything close to WI!

Road Trip!

Road Trip!

Hey Ross,
We didn't come to our senses, Hank just beat it out of us.
You might be surprised when 500 people show up on your door step. :D
We don't even need an agenda. :p
Take Care

I vote for Nawlins (or even Galveston). Weather's good in October, still warm but not too hot, and, yes, it would be more humid than some folks from AZ and a few other places are used to.
I can't recall any hurricanes making their way around New Orleans or Galveston during mid-October.

I also suggest limiting any cruise to an overnight one or a day-long one.
Reasons:
(1) Prices for cruises are usually double occupancy. If your spouse doesn't come and you can't get a roomie, you pay extra.
(2) Not everyone may be able to get away for the entire reunion. Organizing it as a cruise eliminates some people who would otherwise be able to come Friday evening through Sunday.
(3) Seasickness. Some people do occasionally suffer from motion sickness. (Me, for one. As much as I fly, I have become ill 2 or 3 times, once very very ill. I can handle small boats OK, but don't know about a ship.

I've been at a number of conventions that featured day-long cruises, dinner cruises, etc. -- St. Louis, San Diego and Naples FL.
St. Louis is on the Mississippi, as is Memphis TN. Both cities have much to offer visitors.

We have a lot of folks in the Midwest, NE and SE.

Just my 0.02 cents worth.

Did someone mention summer  :) Hubby asked about a summer reunion. Reasons why I am usually solo.........childcare/school, etc. We don't have any issues in that department during the summer months. Can't recommend a 'southern' location at that time a year.

Something out east may work! Flights into DC are cheap from anywhere! There are also cruises out of the harbor in Baltimore. Main dinner on land. 3/4 night cruise :D

Sounds like Hank is compiling many ideas. He's loves the controvsary I hear  ;)

My husband and I have been thinking about a cruise out of New Orleans for next year. We would definantly be able to work our schedule around whatever date is chosen.

I just want to know if everybody met Lance & Philip from QAS in CO. Better yet did anybody meet them. They got on a plane in Orlando and left. They said they were there but I gotta check up on them.

I didn't attend the reunion. But a picture was posted that had them labeled as being in the picture. Now, whether they paid some strangers off to pose as them, I couldn't tell you. :)

I wouldn't mind a summer date for a reunion either. Simply because I have 2 annual fall activities that take me away from my job on Sunday - which is why I couldn't go this year. Couldn't take 3 Sundays off in a row.

I want to change my vote, because. . . .
I've changed my mind.

Marsha brought up some excellent points that I hadn't considered.

A one day cruise /dinner sounds wonderful, and it wouldn't knock some out of the whole reunion. A 4day/3 night trip sounds like it might.
I still like New Orleans, but if it was shortened to one day, a cruise anywhere would be ok.

I met them at the Friday night dinner that my husband and I attended. After dinner, Lance gave an interesting and informative speech on QAS.
