I'm so sorry to hear of all the worry you must be going through! Please keep us updated.

I'm having the same problem with my periods being excessively heavy. There's a link between anticoagulation therapy and menorrhagia.

My iron and feritin levels have been low and I've been taking iron supplements. I just started feeling human again and my period started...that was August 28, and now two weeks later it's still heavy. I feel awful:( I called my GP, my INR was 3.0, so he left the dose as is. I've started on provera for ten days to try to stop the bleeding. It's so frustrating because I'm just too tired to do much of anything.

Has anyone else had low iron post-op and then menorrhagia (heavy periods), did you ever get it straightened out? How?

SSRI????

SSRI????

Niki, I was just wondering if you were taking anything like Prozac or Seroxat (Paxil), as Seroxat had this effect on me when I took it. I would definitely get it checked out anyway.

Yes, my periods also return for a final flourish after my avr. Well, I hope it was a final one. I had that checked out, but they could find nothing amiss.

All the best.

Jane,

No I'm not on Prosac or anything like that. The tenderness has decreased significantly, so I'm just going to wait until I see the gyn on Oct. 14th. I don't really have time to play phone tag with the nurse (teaching only allows 45 minutes in which to place and receive calls within the work day). I started to get a bit worried this weekend, actually, because according to my pill pack I should have started my period last Thursday (took the last "active" pill on Monday), but it didn't start until late Sunday evening! I was beginning to think I would call the gyn on Monday, when it finally arrived. Hopefully this doesn't mean that it will stick around longer, but it probably will...

Thanks everyone for your support and advice.
