I do not think you should feel that way, I had surgery 15 days ago, mech. valve and I take the same med. Yesterday I walked two miles, 34 minutes and I felt normal.Call your heart dr. Thats what they get paid for. I hope you get better.

I agree about calling your doctor. Shortness of breath in a valve patient should not be ignored. It may be no big thing but it would be good to have it checked out.

I am six years on and I am often short of breath, that doesn't make it right but I mention it to my cardiologist each year and he doesn't seem overly concerned and I must admit that I often wonder if it is anxiety causing it.

I was in St George's, Tooting and also have ATS.

Russell,

According to Mayo Clinic, Bisoprolol may cause shortness of breath and fatigue among many others:

" ........ These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if ... side effects continue or are bothersome ........ . "

You may read the whole article here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/drug-information/DR602447/DSECTION=side-effects

I too felt fatigued and more short of breath after my surgery by a few months instead of improving. I got scared! Fortunately, there was nothing wrong. It was anxiety in my case.

I hope your symptoms will go away with an adjustment of your medication dose, after discussing this with your doctor.

Wishing you well, keep us posted.
