Just to let you know that my mom died late last night. She just quit breathing in her sleep. She had been sick for many years and we recently enrolled her in hospice. She had spent nearly a month in the hospital without showing any signs of getting better and really had grown weary of this life and no longer had any desire for nourishment. She died of complications of her parkinson's disease but still managed to reach the age of 84. She is in a far better place and finally free of the body that had become a prison to her spirit. Even so, I find myself grieving and rejoicing at the same time.
I'll be off the board for a few days. Arrangements are not yet complete since today the funeral home is having the funeral for a local young soldier who was killed in Iraq. But we expect to have the funeral on Monday and fly back home sometime Tuesday.
