Over the past week or so I have been getting headaches when I exercise. I do get it when not exercising as well, but I mostly notice it after I've worked out, which usually involves my yoga/pilates class and walking on the treadmill or riding the stationary bike. Anyhow, it is a very specific headache in my left temple, almost feels like pressure. Ever since my surgeries I tend to panic about every little thing so I don't know if I'm making it worse or if it's just some kind of allergy thing.. anyhow, I guess I am writing to see if anyone has had this, but I'll call the dr., too.

Halley, how's your blood pressure? Severe hypertension used to give me some awful headaches. Just a thought. Hope you're fine. Take care :) .

high blood pressure?

Halley,

There are many possibilities, most of them not serious. But since you say it is in a specific place, I just wanted to mention (without intending to scare you) that my wife had headaches like that and finally a neurologist found using an enhanced MRI that it was an aneurysm, and she had surgery to keep it from rupturing. Now, it is unlikely that is your problem, but if the headaches keep recurring in that spot, you might want to ask for a neurological evaluation.

Best wishes,

Thank you for the input, I made an appt. with my internist for Friday to get checked out, so I guess we'll go from there.. I was just there a couple of weeks ago and my blood pressure was fine, I've never had a problem with it except for a time when it was too low.

Can you get an aneurysm while on coumadin?

Recommend taking your own BP on a daily basis

Recommend taking your own BP on a daily basis

Hello -

I had my MV replacement 10 months ago. Since I got out of the hospital, I have kept a daily log of BP, Pulse, weight, meds and exercise. For BP, I use one of the auto-inflating cuffs. It is easy. I check it against my doctor's measure when I go there for a checkup - it has been fine. I also got a digital bathroom scale.

I think I like keeping the log for several reasons:

- I will see quickly if things are going wrong with BP or pulse or weight
- it gives me a sense of involvement and even control over my own fate

I don't like feeling like a lump being taken care of by my doctor(s). Keeping these records - and modifying diet or exercise a little to adjust things - makes me feel I am pushing some of my own buttons.

I don't bring my cuff or scale on trips but I am very consistent about doing the measurements at home.

Hope your headaches go away. I've had some odd ones but nothing serious.

John

It is a really good idea to keep track of BP, odd symptoms, etc. on a daily planner or calendar.
I'm sure that my doc is able to make a better diagnosis when I can tell him exactly what happened when.
