Another common mistake: Switching LOSE and LOOSE.

Correct usages: I am about to LOSE my mind!
Don't let your dog run LOOSE near the road.

and right up there with that one is the common switching of ADVISE and ADVICE

Avise: (verb) Could any of you advise me as to which valve I should choose?

Advice: (Noun) Yes, let me give you some advice...

Since you asked, please note that the correct abbreviation for the Latin phrase "et cetera" is etc. and NOT ect.

This was the first example in the original post that started this whole thread.

...and "YALL" needs an apostrophe (Y'ALL).

The latter is probably a case of the fingers getting ahead of the brain. Happens to me a LOT... or my fingers get behind my brain resulting in omitted words... It only took me 5 years on VR.com to learn how to go back and EDIT a post!
