I have been a seller of the Coaguchek strips and Meters on eBay for more than 10 years. Up until the beginning of this year we were able to peacefully sell these items to people all over the US and the world. In fact we were the top seller of this particular item. ( eBay seller ID: selfcare98) Ebay claim that the listing of these item violated their medical listing policy. This is strange considering the allow for the listing/sale of much more intrusive medical devices and other similar items like diabetic strips.

All that aside, we have been slowly reaching out to all of our past customers to let them know that they can buy direclty from us at www.selfcaredepot.com We want to continue selling these crucial strips to the community and provide them with the best prices and services without having to bleed their wallets dry.

If anyone is interested, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected]

Those that are in need of new strips, you will be glad to know that we just got in a fresh batch today. We are shipping from 2 location; New York and California. Most USPS shipments will take 3-5 days depending on where you are. As an added bonus, all purchases are TAX FREE!

You might want to correct the first link and perhaps the email address. I believe both are missing an e that the second link has.

Hi

Welcome aboard

Firstly, I'm living in Australia (was living in Finland) and in both of those places this isn't an issue ... however thanks very much for starting this thread

...can buy direclty from us at www.selfcardepot.com

I hope this is not flagged as "promotion" but I doubt it will ...

well spotted ... personally I'm a bit sus about the proton mail address ... I would ask @Vu lam to verify it because anything going to something like proton mail, hotmail, outlook ... seems like it could be private mail not corporate.

Thanks

Yes, it is shocking that in the land of freedom, it is the corporation that dictate to the people where and whom they can buy from. The restriction on eBay is not applied equally as well. I believe they still allow UK eBay sellers to sell this item.

In the US this is because the Roche CoaguChek system which is a Class II medical device requires a prescription and eBay policies do no allow sale of medical devices that require a prescription. This has been the situation for many years, however eBay had been lax in enforcement. That changed after they paid $59 million to settle violations of the Controlled Substances Act in January. That was related to sale of Pill presses, but no surprise they would start enforcing government regulations and their own corresponding policies after paying such a fine.

Previous versions approved for sale in the US have the same restrictions. Unfortunately, I've seen no indication that Roche is requesting a change in classification.

If they are allowing sale in the UK, it is probably because of different/less restrictions than in the US, but that is just my guess. Someone on this forum may have relevant facts to share on the situation there.

That all makes sense, and the reason they would be allowed to sell in the UK is because the machine is not a prescription item - anyone can buy one. I've just checked, and there are several for sale, both the XS and the INRange machines. However, why buy on eBay for £443 or £551 when you can buy from the official outlet for £299?

I wonder if enough of us can write to a senator or our congress representatives about the strange situation related to anticoagulation meters -- blood glucose meters are available without a prescription. Insulin is by prescription only.

Why should anticoagulation meters and strips be any different?

But, of course, complaints will probably go NOWHERE.

I would gladly verify anything that is required of me. If anyone here has bought coaguchek from eBay in the last 10 years, chances are good that they bought from me. seller ID is 'selfcaredepot98' for those that are curious. You can read the reviews and verify for yourself.
