The funniest was when my husband, shortly after I'd gotten my VR, was laying in bed next to me and said "Man, my watch is--- digital!" ;) He'd been about to say that his watch was loud, when he realized it couldn't possibly be his watch making that ticking noise. :D

That's almost exactly what happened to me Gnusgal. It was one of my first trips out of the house and while riding in an elevator my daughter commented, "Dad, I hate that watch -- it ticks so loud." I explained to her that if it was ever quiet and she was with me and she didn't hear that noise, either she was deaf or she should call the morgue because it meant I had died. :D :D

I have a carbomedics top-hat, and couldn't hear it at all in the hospital. I had an echo last Monday morning, and that was the first time I'd really heard it. Compared to the squeaking and whooshing of my murmum, it was a welcome sound. I can hear it now that I"m home--strangely enough, I can hear it best in the bathroom LOL. I've heard that the carbomedics are quieter than the St Judes--CCF uses both, I think I got a carbomedics because of how the clearance of the flaps was with my aorta???? At least I remember him talking about that when I had my presurgery consult.

My daughter and husband can hear the ticking when their sitting next to me. At nite is the best time to hear it, especially when it's pulsing in your head too! I was told it would ebb over time, and it has a little, but even after 5 1/2 years I still hear it a lot.
