..."settling" for something close to what you want ... or ... "waiting" for what you really want?

Or, in other words, which do you find yourself doing more:

"giving into popular ways/thoughts" (i.e. going with the masses)

... or ...

"sticking to your convictions/beliefs" (i.e. remaining true to yourself)?

I've been wondering about this lately on different levels because of a few different topics that are on my "front burner" ["winter beater"/road trip car purchase, financial considerations, friendships (etc.), memberships, and a few others]. "Going with the masses" or "settling" can be good ... but, maybe you lose yourself, your individuality, a bit along the way...?

*shrugs*

Or not. I don't know.

I guess I kind of wonder how many of us really do wait for exactly what we want or remain true to ourselves ... instead of following the popular ways to, perhaps, be more popular/likeable and/or gain/have/keep friends. So, how about it? Maybe it isn't black'n'white, but more gray....

Well, Cort......a little of both.
I will settle on materialistic things ....I will NOT go into debt for anything. I have bought used cars, used furniture (which is so much fun to hunt for), and my neighbours and I have swapped various items over the years. I derive absolutely no pleasure in going to a big mall and loading up the credit cards.
I have a couple of friends who just LOVE to spend, and they think I am kind of weird.....I don't have satellite T.V......how is that possible?
I am content and secure enough in my choices that I laugh it off.
