I hope people see this here in the reunion forum...

Janet and I have been talking and it's been WAY too long since we last got together (Darn it, Cort, why don't you come to town more often. ;) ). So we were hoping to have dinner some time soon. We both have various times we will be out of town, so we've settled on either Monday, July 21st or Tuesday, July 22nd. I figure dinner would be best for most people, since you're not all teachers like us and off for the summer. ;)

SO... How many people could join us and what would be your preference for the date? We were considering meeting somewhere in Grapevine so that people from all over the metroplex can come. But again, we're open to suggestions. I really hope we can get a group together! :)

LOL!

You KNOW I'd love to come to TX quite a bit more often, but, alas, I can only go so many places with minimal vacation time :(.

PLUS...I still have yet to get to Boston and the NE....and far west and NW....

*sighs*

Niki,
I may be able to make it. My son's birthday is that weekend and we are still up in the air on what we are doing. I guess 07/21 would be better for me but will try to make either night. BTW, I live in Grapevine so that would be convenient. :D

Ironically, I'm right outside of Dallas this whole week (until Monday afternoon) for a teacher training, a little east of the Irving area off of 635. Wish your reunion were this week, and I would have joined you both. I have enjoyed the sightseeing though: TX Schoolbook Depository tonight, Southfork last night, and Ft. Worth Stockyards Wed. Take care and hope you two can get a reunion together.

Aw, I was kinda hoping you'd be in Florida with us again (I leave Monday to go to Disney). ;) If you'd told me you were in town we could have hooked up. Nathan's grandmother, aunt, and father all live right by Southfork. Actually, you can see it from his grandmother's back yard! ;) Glad you've had a good time!

Yea! :) Hopefully we'll get some more responses, but if not you get to pick the place since you're more familiar with Grapevine than the rest of us! ;)

I'll be in Fort Worth on Friday to tour TCU. I'll have two teenage girls with me, otherwise I'd try to get together with some of you. Hannah came with me to the San Antonio reunion when she was 9 or 10, and found it quite boring. She's 17 now, but still prefers not to be "stuck" with a bunch of boring adults!

ARG!

Southfork is the one place I haven't seen during my last 2 trips to Dallas that I would LIKE to see. The first time around (2004), I didn't realize it was so close to where I was. The second time around (2006), I didn't have time to see it :(.

Hey, Lisa!

Hey, Lisa!

Isn't that a second round for TCU? Too bad we will be in Mississippi Friday or we could jump over and see you.

Same, Sherry, you should have told us you were coming, but we are jumping state. (Not cuz you are here! heehee!:D)

Let me know, Niki. Guess we should have given more notice?????

Hugs. J.

Well, I'm about to head out of town. I'll be back late Friday night, so I'll jump in and make a final declaration of when/where on Saturday. If anyone wants to make a decision, go for it! I'm not picky at all...

I wonder if maybe some people aren't seeing this because it's in the "Reunion" forum? I know there are a lot more DFW people... I hope we can get more people, but if not, I'm still happy to meet with those who CAN come! :D

Janet - we did an on our own, unofficial walking tour a few weeks ago. Now we are going for Destination TCU, where they drag you around campus in the heat for a few hours, and then make you sit in a room with a lot of stinky people while they talk about admissions, financial aid, etc. At least they will feed us lunch!

Niki,
I will come up with a list of restaurants in Grapevine by the time you get back on Friday.

Chris

I should have given you all a heads up that I was coming down. Would have loved to have met up for dinner and to see you again, Nikki. :) And you too, Janet, Lisa, and Mary. We had a really packed week with LTF training and then the sightseeing each evening. We have to come down for round 2 next July so I'll give you all some advanced notice that I'm coming. We stayed at the Omni right off of 635 and Luna Rd. Do you all know where that is? Would that have been close enough to have come and met you all for dinner? I suspect we'll be there next year as well. Funny thing about that Omni: there were hundreds of teachers there the whole week and then other companies and such were there thoughout the week. Ironically, the American Heart Association was there for a few days. For some odd reason, I felt comforted that they were there. :)

Lisa, I met another teacher from Katy (7th grade) at the training. I mentioned that there was another heart patient/teacher from Katy (you), but she explained to me how big the Katy district is. Doubt that the two of you know each other considering the number of schools.

Cort, Southfork was a real hoot. I've watched Dallas on and off for years (still in syndication), and it was just one of those really cool things for a true fan. Hope you get a chance to go out and visit sometime. It's still a working ranch so there are horses and longhorns out behind the house. I spent quite a bit of time talking to the lady in the giftshop who told me she met all the actors/actresses when they came out for the 2005 reunion. Said Larry Hagman was just extremely down to earth, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray too. Didn't think Victoria Principal was as nice. Interesting to hear that perspective.

Oh my goodness...I am SSSOO jealous!

He he ... Dad loved "Dallas" and would watch it every Friday night in the sewing/computer room so that us kids (sis and I) couldn't watch it, though we "snuck in" sometimes...he he. What a lineup CBS had back then...Dukes of Hazzard (gee, wonder who watched that??!!) followed by Dallas!

I will have to make a point to see Southfork whenever I'm in Dallas next....

Did you get any pics, by chance, Sherry?

Yep!

Yep!

Everyone has to do Southfork, but I have to confess that I was a tad bit dismayed that the house was not nearly as big as it looked on tv.

Anyway, Sherry, I know right where it is. My old armory used to be off Luna Road. I don't know if I can actually plan an entire year out as I do well to plan one day out. :D But I hope it's a date. Hugs to all. J.

Drat! This is the first I've seen this thread, since I'm drowning at work (and "new posts" just doesn't always show me all the new stuff I haven't read yet).
Both days are dog class nights for me, so I'm pretty iffy. Jet needs all the work she can get!
Monday is Jet's agility class in Wylie, and I don't get refunds for that if I miss.
Tuesday is Jet's obedience class in Garland, and I pay per class, so I could skip that if need be, but I have to check with DH to see if he'd mind if I don't come home until late (I work in Addison and it would be dumb to head east 30minutes then turn around and go twice as far west).

Got a PM from MaryC -- had not noticed the posts about a DFW gathering until just this morning.

I can come, but I doubt John can, since he doesn't get off work until 6 or 6:30.

How about Mimi's in Grapevine? (Great food/prices/choices & you can get individual tickets) I think it's on 114. There's California Pizza Kitchen, too, right at 121 & 114. (Love the food!) Also Southlake Tavern on Southlake Blvd. El Fenix on 114/121 heading toward DFW Airport. Is there a Mi Cocina in the area, other that at Southlake Town Center?

I attended at a cat show June 8 at Southfork -- no, not in the house -- in a building they rent out for weddings and other events. This was on a Sunday and there were loads of tourists there. Very very pretty area, and yes, I thought the house looked smaller than it did on TV.
