Surprising that 30 seconds faster pace generates such an increase in HR. I'm thinking it's a function of other things, too -- like too much to eat!!

I tend to agree that the jump in heart rate is disproportionate to the change in pace. Heat can play a large role. So can the amount of sleep the night before.

I have to keep my strap pretty tight to avoid bouncing.

Strange. I feel out of shape (I've been eating like it's going out of style -- call it stress). The stats confirm I'm slower. I HAVE taken off 7 pounds in two weeks (there's the yo-yo, Mark!). Then again, I did run late at night after chowing down.

Pulseox reading, lying down at 11:26PM: 94, pulse 69
Blood pressure 107/67 also lying down

Morning stats

Morning stats

MRHR: 59 (up from my post-marathon relay low)
OwnIndex (Polar): 41 ("good" but down from 42 pre-marathon relay)
Pulseox: 93%
BP: 107/69

All of which confirms I've let myself go a bit AND I've got to keep Nikita (our German Shepherd) out of our bedroom, since I AM allergic...
