Debby's progress report

Debby's progress report

Debby is doing really well! (And I have started breathing again!)
She went to the 'step down' unit this afternoon from the ICU.
She is eating solid food (appetite is surprisingly good!)
She took her first walk today. So I'm very happy.

I would like to put in a good word for her hospital and
surgeon. I believe one or more of you has had surgery with
Dr. Alan Speir. In addition to having a national reputation,
he is a fine, caring human being. You couldn't be in better hands.

The Fairfax Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute is excellent. So if you are in the mid-Atlantic area, no need to travel to Cleveland, Minnesota, Boston, et al. You can get excellent care here.

Rick:

Glad to hear everything is going so well for Debby. I know you must be thrilled and relieved.

Yep, I am the one who had Dr. Speir as his surgeon. The third anniversary of my OHS is coming up two days after Valentine's Day. Dr. Speir is absolutely top-rate, as you said. I hope recovery continues to go smoothly for Debby.

Thanks for the update, Rick. Sounds like she will be posting from home soon!:D

Debby is now home

Debby is now home

Debby came home today, 2/2/08, and is filling
good.

Thanks to all for your kind thoughts and wishes.

She'll be posting on her own soon.

Welcome home Debby. I am so happy that you are home.
As for appetite, I came out of OHS hungry. I could not wait to get home , (it took 12 days to get there), so I could eat what I wanted when I wanted. :D The doctor said I was definitely the exception to the rule.
I hope have a smooth and uneventful recuperation.
