(Aside to Hank - was able to log in as you can see - thanks for your help - again -)
I was able to join in the "Chat" for a while last night - I have to watch for it again - is it always on Sunday at 5???-
I am officially pre-surgery - I have a June 10 date - and I have a date mate in the group somewhere - I was going to e-mail them but haven't come across who it is yet - so if you're out there - I would like to hear from you -
Now I am counting the days - I will be SO glad when this is over - or at least the surgery part is over - then I might be able to concentrate on something - I really can't now -
This site has been very helpful - I will keep reading here -

Hi Barbara-

To find out who is having surgery along with you, go to Calendar at the top of the page and click on it, then go to the bottom of the calendar page and click on June.

June is starting to be a busy month.

Hi Barbara

It was nice chatting with you yesterday in chat. We try to do that every Sunday at 5 p.m. Eastern time. Look forward to seeing more of you there and in here too.

jeferi is your date mate and you can get in touch with him by clicking on this link and private messaging him. He doesn't accept emails from within the forums.

Your both on the calendar for the 10th of June. If you have more questions, this is the place to ask away. We are here to help sort it all out and go through the whole thing with you. ;)

Barbara That would be me

Barbara That would be me

I was reading the new posts and saw your having surgery on the 10th also. I saw reference to the calendar and noticed we were on it. I hadn't noticed the calendar before, 1st time I checked it out. So June 10th is my date unless a better alternative comes up before hand. I'm scheduled to meet with another surgeon on Tuesday to get another 2nd opinion with Dr. Goudiani (a top surgeon in the bay area). Sometimes I get this feeling from the Kaiser Dr.'s I'm off to get a mole removed or something minor, from the energy in their voice referring to my OHS. I know thats all they do and tell me they do 2000 OHS a year in SF so it is routine for them.
Good luck
Jeff

Hi Barbara

Enjoyed chatting with you last night. We usually cut up a lot on Sunday night chat..:D :D E-mail me if you want to chat. Click on members at top..Find me under G's..Granbonny and click on my name...I'm the nosey one here..so can I ask your age and location..Might help a lot in giving you some good hints for recovery.. Also, do you have family at home. Need someone the first week you come home to help with bathroom, food, meds..2nd week, you can probably be up and around by your self in house. You and jeferi have picked a good day for surgery. My birthday:D :D :D :D I will be age 39..:p :p :p I was age 39 last year and next year, too.:D :D :D Come back to this thread and ask many questions. We are here to help you.:) :) Bonnie

I seem to remember a certain someone who was scheduled for June 8th last year and then got sick and had it rescheduled for July 22nd. Wonder who that certain someone was???????

Hi, Barbara!

Hi, Barbara!

Welcome. Steve and Betty probably have room for you in the waiting room, but you won't be there for long. Take the time to read old posts, particularly pre-surgery; there are lots of good ideas to get you through this very difficult time. And lots of things for you to do to prepare you and your living quarters for your recovery. If you take some of the advice for preparing for recovery it'll make post-surgery go more smoothly.

My most basic advice is always "shop" - spending lots of money helps relax you:D !!! And make sure you have a recliner that you're comfortable in.

We're here day and night for questions and concerns and just general unease.

You have come to the right place

You have come to the right place

Welcome,
I am fairly new here(3 weeks post op today) but I will tell you these guys and gals are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They put up with me in my panic stage and gave me excellent advise/answers when I had questions. Most were answered reading the past posts. The best advise came from Georgia and it was to go shopping. The most important thing I bought was my pillow. It has become my best friend!
Take care

Barbara and Jeferei,

You've come to the right place. I found this place earlier this year when I was told I'd have to have an AVR (April 24). The best place to be is the post-op forum. Reading the success stories will calm and encourage you.

Georgia is so right, spend, spend, spend. It will warm your heart:D

Nice to hear for you all

Nice to hear for you all

Hi everybody -
thanks for the advice and comments - I will be hanging out here more often - but I think I am doing something wrong - took me a long time to log in - I got a new password yesterday - but it didn't work today - I pasted in so it wasn't a typo - I'm sure you don't have to get a new pw everytime you log in - or do you? -
Today was an ok day - I am still working so that helps - but I won't be working after Friday - I retire as of June 1 - We were offered a package - interesting timing -
now I will re-read these replies - thanks
Barbara

Barbara who do you have for an internet service provider? I looked in your profile from my moderators panel and we don't have an IP address listed for you. This may be the cause of the problem. The other cause could possibly be corrupted cookie, deleted cookie after viewing the forums or an issue with page caching from your ISP. If you continue to have problems, contact Hank or I and we'll try to get this resolved asap. ;)

Pull up a chair ...

Pull up a chair ...

We do have room in the waiting room even for someone just passing through. We are just finishing moving and I know when I get to do my "pre-op shopping" I need to get some new sleepwear! Everyone says make sure you have some real comfortable clothes to wear at first. You won't want to be in your jammies all the time but won't want snug jeans either.

When you are in the hospital- take the deep breathing exercises very seriously. Don't forget those you are leaving in the waiting room after you go over the mountain..............Betty(bvdr)

I tried nude in the misguided belief that maybe they'd kick me out sooner, but it didn't work. Heck, it didn't even scare them any. :(

post-op clothes

post-op clothes

I bought new soft pj's..top's button down front. You don't want to lift your arms to pull anything over your head for a few weeks. I even went to my first INR testing at local clinic in pj's and bathrobe. Who cares?? I didn't..:p :p After a few weeks, hubby's button down front shirts and shorts..slip on shoes..No bending over to tie shoelaces...and NO bra..:p Still no bra.:p Just sports bras..light weight ones..Unless you are planning on going back to work..where you need dress up clothes..Go casual as long as you can.:D :D :D :D Ross. I can picture you laying there in the nude:D :D Bet it was the conversation and good laughs around the Nurse's station.:D :D :D Bonnie

Ross take it from a former nurse, guys without clothes are nothing special by the time you finish nursing school.

Lettitia:D :D :D :D :D

Would that really cause a problem? I've got access to three different servers at my end and changing the IPs doesn't seem to affect my password use.

About the comfie clothes. I couldn't wear shirts that buttoned down the front, they irritated my scar. I just wore loose baggy t-shirts, as long as the neck was loose. Also, I found somedays I was more comfortable with a bra and other days not. I took an old one and cut up the elastic a little so it wasn't tight.

In the hospital I just wore the blue hospital gowns. I had night sweats for the first week and it was so much easier to just have a gown handy to change into.

:)

It may. The board may be sensing a new user only because it hadn't logged her IP address for her intial enrollment. I think it's more of a cookie, cache, or browser issue though. The strange thing is, it shows as logged viewing her posts but not in the admin control panel.
