Forgive me if this is in the wrong area.

I'm on coumadin, people say to drink in moderation when on it, which is 1 beer. I'm no drunk, I'm not talking about going out and getting drunk all the time. But let's say I do want to go out and have more than 1 beer? Not go out and be wild and crazy, but go watch a game at the local pub, or have a few beers on special occasions. What exactly are the dangers if I were to pursue this? I can't find much info on wether it's good or how bad it can be. My surgeon, cardiologist, family doctor all have different opinions, but really don't explain the bad that could come with it. My Cardio, his only reasoning was, well what if you get drink and don't know what's happening and hit my head, or fall downstairs, that I could than get hemmoriging, my surgeon says I don't see a problem, and my family doctor is against it. Anybody have links or information that would argue why I shouldn't be allowed to have a few drinks at a time here and there?

Ovie: I think many health care workers lay down the law and discourage alcohol because it is the safest position to take. But practically speaking you can have a several beers when you want. Just don't make a habit of it. Carry on.

Yeah, I had a heart to heart talk today with my doctor, we discussed some things that we both felt needed to be acknowledged when it comes to Alcohol. I left satisfied with the talk and I believe he felt comfortable as to where I stood on the topic and my tendencies to not be real wild. My party days are behind me, which helps the situations I put myself in.

Ovie,
I commend you for taking a good look at where you are in life and deciding that your wild party days are behind you. That is not to say that a beer with friends once in a while is not OK. I believe that we all come to that point in our lives when other people/situations become more important to us than being buzzed. Enjoy your life and all the new places you will go. :biggrin2:
