LOVE MY DAD

thanks to everyone for there prayers my dad is being stitch up as i speak he is done and off the vent before leaving the surgery room and they said his heart was beating on its own , i cant thank everyone enough for the kind words ,thoughts, and prayers, i know we will still have some bumps in the road or maybe we want ,but i do know that he is doing very well and docs are amazed at how well he has done this far , thank you everyone i love each and every person we are all family :)

Great News!!! Glad your dad has gone through the surgery and all is well. Now comes the recovery. Remind him to use his spirometer for clearing his lungs. When he is able he will need to walk. Give your family a big hug. And you all need to remember to take care of yourselves also, this has been a trying time for each of you also. :)

That is fantastic news. Wishing Dad the very best.
Now, make sure you and your family look after themselves - you need your rest too.

Remind Dad that there will be no attempt on chasing the nurses around the ward :). Eat, breath, walk and rest is all he is permitted to do.

Prayers continue.

update the family misunderstood doc he is still on vent and out of it for another 7 to 8 hours his blood presure drop during sugery but gave med and its holding as of now they said vent will be taken when hes awake he is breathing on his own but has to be awake before vent can be taken off

Oh, I see. Well that is usually the process. I'm sure your dad will do fine and the vent will be out before you know it. Remember, tiny steps is what wins the race, so your dad will be out of the woods before you know it.:)

I have a qustion does anyone know if they have to give meds to keep blood pressure up after surgrey i am very worried over this they said dad was resonding to the meds but i was just wanting to know if anyone else experanced low blood pressure after surgery they have been takeing some tubes out as the hours go by

I can't speak for or against any meds that the doctor's may have given your dad. But remember his body has been through quite a shock and some times the body needs a little extra time to stabilize itself. If they are taking tubes out as time goes by that means that he must be progressing in a good direction. Just hang in there. I know this must be very difficult. :)

My BP was a little low, and my pulse was fast, but nobody on staff seemed worried, and i eventually settled out. Does your dad's BP typically run a little low?

I agree with Chris...tubes being removed is a good sign, in my book.

Yay for prayer!

its been pretty normal or a little high before the surgery but has never been a big issue before

It is normal for BP to drop or rise and sometimes it is a side effect of certain medication. Do not worry as he is monitored. My BP dropped very low twice and a couple of nurses who were monitoring me from another room came rushing to my room to check on me!!

THIS IS great news. I have been watching your posts and also waiting for news. God bless your dad. He's a fighter, isn't he - I know you are very proud and also happy that this part is over and done and that he's doing so well. Blessins.........

Got a call dads wakeing up and there going to remove the vent tube soon hes moving his hands and toes and can nod when ask something i think there going to send me pics soon so i may have some to put on his page soon
i will update as they call

Great news. Remember he will be sleepy. He may not get the vent out right away. You all need to get some rest. They will get to see him for a bit and then tomorrow is another day. Please continue to post. Still praying for you all.

Sounds like you can relax a little now. I hope his recovery is as smooth. God Bless.

The anesthesia drugs will cause low blood pressure. It just takes time to wear off and really, the quickest way for that to happen is to get him up and walking as soon as possible.

Sounds like things are going well. It's normal for the vent not to come out at lightning speed, believe me. Know it will be a relief when it is out. Sending best wishes and prayers for a smooth recovery.
