I have hit 4.0 without drinking. I use to drink only at special occasions like once a month every other but would have a decent amount of drinks. I do not have to drink have had one drink in 7 or 8 months just curious because I am sure there is a point that it would get you in trouble I agree add some spinach. One nurse said skip your coumadin the night you drink not sure thats wise or not.

YIKES.... fire that nurse!!! That is CRAZY!!!!
In fact, Skipping your Coumadin could be deadly. I would rather be a little on the high side of my INR than dead!

I agree that skipping a dose -- unless your INR is very dangerously high (in which case, you may need real medical attention and possibly Vitamin and some monitoring) -- I can't see how missing a single dose can be deadly. Even if your INR drops below 2 for a day, it shouldn't be particularly dangeous. If your INR is closer to 1.0 for days - or perhaps longer - at a time, you're at definite risk of a stroke, but for one day, I don't see a real problem.

OTOH - the advice to skip a dose because you're going to be in the sun is a fine example of someone who doesn't know how warfarin works - or about possible effects of solar exposure on INR.

If you skip a dose every day that you have a drink, then I guess it all depends on how often you drink. It very well could be deadly.
