Thinking of you....

Thinking of you....

John & Joann,

You are two of the greatest people I?ve ever met. Joann is a tough lady... I know she?ll be fine. Still its never fun to go through this stuff. Please make sure Joann knows she is not alone. We are all with her in thought and prayer. I know she'll be fine. :)

Tell Joann if she wants to make a vacation out of it.... go ahead and swing by my house for a few days. :p Sorry, Joann... bad humor. :) But I do look forward to meeting you again.

Just a brief note to let you all know that the replacement was a success. Joann is sore and has some swelling since they kept her protime above 2. She was in the hospital for 4 days.

If they just replace the pacemaker (battery is built into the unit), Cleveland Clinic does not take you of coumadin. If they need to install the wires to the atrium and ventricle, you must be off coumadin for 4-6 days. Fortunately, Joann did NOT need new wires. They did use 2 bags of refludin (leach spit) following the procedure to make certain that there were no blood clots.

The new pacemaker should be good for 6 to 10 years.

Thanks for all your comments, prayers and concerns! Joann will be back to normal in a few weeks.

God Bless!

Hi John,

Wondeful news! Thank you for the update. Please give Joann my best. We sure missed you both at the reunion!

Welcome home, Joann!

Welcome home, Joann!

Glad to be reassured everything went well. We sure missed you two at reunion. Hopefully we'll catch you at next years in CO! :)

John and Joann,

I'm so glad to hear that all went as well as was planned and hoped for. It's always good to hear these success stories!

Joann: Enjoy those next 6 to 10 years to the fullest extent possible. This isn't a wish, it's an ORDER. (Ross must be rubbing off on me :p

Best wishes, 'AL'

John and Joann,

I missed your post earlier. I had my first pacemaker inserted in July after surgery at CCF. I was very interested to hear about your experience with the replacement process, and I'm glad to hear that things went so well.

I certainly intend to go back to Cleveland when it is time for a battery change!

whew!

whew!

John and Joann,
Was in here catching up on all the post reunion threads, when I found this message from you. went from concern, to worry, to relief all in one thread ;) So glad Joann is doing well. Give her a big hug from us when her soreness subsides.

Update

Update

Just a brief note to let you all know that Joann is doing well with the coumadin, pacemaker replacement, etc., but we are now into a long spell of atrial fib/flutter. The blood pressure and pulse are low, but the pounding is very bad. Everyone says "not to worry", but this has caused depression, tired feeling, not sleeping, etc.

The new pacemaker was checked last week an it is using a large amount of jolts trying to pace the atrium. I hope that Joann will agree to call the local cardiologist or Cleveland Clinic regarding this problem.

Will keep you informed!

Dear John and Joann-

I'm sorry to hear of this latest situation. Hopefully, the heart will stop being irritated and the rhythm will straighten out.

You will both be in my thoughts and prayers.

Please keep us informed.

We love you, Joann!!

We love you, Joann!!

John,

I understand the feelings you described for the atrial fib. It?s horrible. Surely Joann will see the importance of seeing her cardio about this situation. I?m sure she must be sick and tired of doctors in general at this point... but please call the cardio. Even if they can?t fix it, they can give you meds to make it bearable... that?s what they did for mine.

Hi John and Joann,

Just wanted to let you know how glad I am that the pacemaker insertion went well (and on a personal note too, since I have one, that it can be done without going off of coumadin) and also how distressed I am to hear that Joann is now having problems.

I will "hold her in the light" as a quaker friend of mine says, and hope that she is feeling better soon.
