Sorry I am late getting this started....Wishing everyone success in losing.... Have a great week!!!!...I will post my weight later........I'm still snoozing:cool:

Good luck this week...or month...That brings up a question, should we have a weekly or monthly Throw Down thread?....Personally I like weekly accountability but if the majority wants to change it we can. Speak now or forever hold your fork.

Starting weight........233
Last Week...................200.5
This week....................198
Weekly Change............-2.5
Total Loss......................35
Exercise..........walked 30 minutes 5 days this week.

I was up a fraction, but it's less than half a pound which is within normal day to day variance. More importantly, the weather is beginning to get a bit better and I've been able to get out to run 3 mornings in a row. Things go better for me if I can keep up my routine.

A Serious Question

A Serious Question

I have been feeling fatigued for the past week. I seem to bottom out in the afternoon (for a short while) then bounce back. Close the store at seven and home for dinner and a little TV. Lately I have been falling asleep in my recliner; I did not even make it till ten o?clock several nights this week. The recent changes have been that I have been walking 5 times a week, have not missed and I have incorporated a lot more fruit and veggies into my diet. I know my caloric intake id down as well as the amount of protein I am getting.

I am not having any SOB and my walks are at a good pace with no problems at all. This fatigue seems to have developed, or I have noticed just in the past week. My wife thinks it is the dieting and exercise that my body has not fully adjusted to. She also seems to like to mention my age?..I?m eight month younger than her so she better watch out. I know I?m not getting younger. Ok I will shut up and asked the question. Do you think this could be valve related? If it is, would not I be SOB?......I am Not a worrier of an alarmist, so for me even to mention this tells you that it is a noticeable change. Thanks.

I don't think it's valve related.
I think your wife is right on the mark, and you're adjusting to the increased exercise. At one point, exercise was nonexistent in your life, wasn't it?
I think that you should try to get some more sleep, and with a little more time, I think you will feel much more energized.
Just make sure you're getting enough iron in your diet.

It could be a blood sugar issue, even if you are not diabetic.

LOW Blood Sugar can result in tiredness and loss of energy.

You may want to learn how to keep you blood sugar at an adequate level throughout the day. My Doc recommended smaller meals with 3 small between-meal snacks. Also fiber. I'm still learning and won't even try to make any recommendations at this time.

Mary and Al?..thanks?.I did not think of blood sugar but that makes since?I have had a drastic change in diet and the level of exercise, it stands to reason sugar intake and usage has changed?.. I will read up on this and have a Snicker bar as a short term solution.;)

Not TOO many Snicker's bars, though, Cooker!!

I would only add to your comments, that I have not been able to exercise due to this bum knee and I am definitely feeling tired in the afternoons and completely ready to poop out at night. So, changes in habits can affect your body's metabolism and endurance.

I often wonder if our bodies don't remember things. So each time we stress ours out abit, the body falls back into that uh-oh... must heal....still in recovery...sleep, sleep, sleep.....mode.

That said, my nurse practitioner who advised me about my knee (wait 2 more weeks then see the orthopedist) also listened to my heart (my request) and said she heard a murmur of 2 out of the "something or other scale" of 4, and are you going in soon to get an echo. :( Well, thank you very much, echo isn't due until April, but I sure went home and made the appointment! I'm not that thrilled with this practitioner anyway, so I'm not worrying much. My point is.....Cooker.....if you don't feel right, let someone know! You can't possibly know what's going on inside. And that little seed of doubt can wreak havoc on a person's best intentions. So if this blood sugar thing doesn't pan out...or you are still feeling very tired, please, just give a quick call to the cardio!!

Haven't even weighed in today. Too frustrated. Taking a bye due to knee injury!!

Good luck everyone!

Hi Marguerite....and thanks...I have not been eating all of my WW points so I know I need more food....I am going to change that and see. Friday is a free day, diet wise, so I have had 2 Chick-fil-A's and coleslaw and I feel much better:D ...I always splurge after weighing in...tonight may be Olive Garden:D

Cooker
Great weight loss. WOW
I'll echo what others have said if you're not feeling better then see your doctor. Sometimes the worry makes it seem worse than what it is but when in doubt check it out.

Hi everyone,

Down to 167 this week, from 182.5 at the beginning. That's a total of 15.5 pounds for me. Only down a half pound from last week, but I'll take it!!!

As for fatigue, Cooker, I can relate. We got home from China a week ago and I can't make it until 7:00 p.m.!!! I've fallen asleep watching Jeopardy at 7:00 p.m. for the past several nights. I think it was my daughter who pointed out to me that if I'm watching Jeopardy every night, I'm definitely an old person! That hurt!!!!

I did weigh this morning. But I can't really remember EXACTLY what I weighed last week, so I'm just going to post the before and now weights. I'm not sure about the weekly change, but I THINK I went down a tiny bit.

Starting Weight: 142
Today's Weight: 133.5
Total loss: 8.5

I've eaten really well the last couple of days. And today I was VERY active, but not purposely exercising (we had our Read Across America activities going on all day, so I was all over the building trying to snap pictures). I'm STARVING and all I had for lunch was a salad. I think it's snack time... :D

Susan and Niki....Great job:D ... I have been snacking today but back with it tomorrow!!!!!....So glad we are sticking with it....Have a great weekend everybody:D

Way to go, Niki, Susan and Cooker!

Cooker, I have recently started using Special K protein water additives (not sure what they're called, but they're little powder pouches that you add to water). They are located near the SlimFast stuff in the grocery store and they provide 5 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber for zero points. I like them because they make me feel full for a while. They might help you out with your tiredness if it is blood sugar related. (And it's not prune juice, so it's entirely legal :D )

I have stayed the same this week at 149. I'm happy enough to still be under 150, but will try to do better next week. I'm still officially down 30 pounds.

Thanks PJ.....fiber and protein:D :D :D ...a chimps dream.....and you are right....the Ref can't ban this stuff:p

I saw this quote in an email forward today. I thought it was a good one for us.

"Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside."

So keep those laughs comin'! It's the only exercise I've been getting lately. ;)

I've forgotten to post for the last few weeks. I blew it with Valentine's and my anniversary, so put on a pound, but now I'm down to 147. I think that's down 1 from when I last posted.

Way to go!!! I had to deal with the anniversary too:eek: ....Lately it seem like there is always a reason to celebrate with food....just left a birthday party for my godson....back to WW and the points counting tomorrow....we all need to live, laugh and love......at times, moderation be damned:D :D

I went to a wine tasting last night. I had a sandwich beforehand, so I would have something on my stomach, as I was told there would be cheese and crackers, but no meal... Well, they put the cheese tray down RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! So it was like I had a gigantic plate just for me (that people would eat off of every now and then). I ate and ate and ate. Mostly to drown out the taste of the wines I didn't like (which was most of them, since I don't like reds and it seemed more than half were red). If we'd been given a glass of water I would have had that to clear my palate. But we didn't... If I go to another one of these, I think I will bring a bottle of water! ;)

At any rate, today I feel swollen like a balloon! It looks like it might prove to be a pretty day today. It may be time to break out the walking shoes again!

Tuesday--birthday party, Thursday--Chick-Fil-A pig-out, Friday---Chinese buffet, Saturday---birthday part.......Sunday scales result...up 5 pounds.......Back at it....oh and lots of cake and a half a pan of brownies:cool:
