The real problem is not just that it's Chinese, but that it's a buffet. With a sit down dinner, you can set a part of it aside and doggie bag it for another time. With a buffet you have infinite portion sizes and a wide variety of choices, so something in your head says you need to try them ALL. Oh, just a bit of each dish, but there could be 10-12 dishes, then one is so good you'll go back for more of that, plus sides, plus desserts...

I wish I had some words of wisdom to impart here, but the last time I went to a Chinese buffet I gained 2 lbs for the week. If there's one place I should avoid at all costs it's that one. Worse than a kid in a candy shop is a Sumo in a Chinese buffet.

Jack hit the nail on the head??.buffets are my downfall??.the saying goes ?the only habit I don?t have is self control" :D

I posted several months ago..where I have my nails done..is a Chinese Buffet. I have to sit in window to dry them..and watch the people going/coming .from the Sunflower..(chinese Buffet)......Now, I am not one to talk about anyone;s weight..but MANY..are overweight..Young/Old..some on walkers, ect....Sad, to see the young people..SO overweight.. .It is good. ate there 1 time when we were waiting to have tires changed...Good food and cheap..This is always around the lunch hour........I figure for the price of all you can eat..is the same as going to Wendy's....They are building one here in our village (same Chinese)..to open soon.. .Glad we do not like a huge lunch..and never go out at night......unless..we are at kids..for a special meal........Bonnie

I didn't do too badly at the buffet. I took Marguerite's suggestion and I had some carrots and celery before I went.

No dinner for me, or maybe a bowl of Cheerios if I get a little hungry.

Good girl, Karlynn!! See, it can stave off that wowee zowee feel of all those choices if you're just not that hungry!

Cheerios are always a great meal!! I don't eat them often since I find that oatmeal upsets my stomach...it actually makes me feel hungry after awhile. Someone explained it to me once, but I don't remember why. I just don't eat oats, as good as they are. Wheat is better for filling me up. I just love Kashi. The plain, cardboard tasting puffed wheat kind. I eat bowls of it. And I use soy milk with Omega-3 added in which is how I get the cholesterol reducing hit (since I can't use oats). A bowl of that will keep me full for 6 hours. It's amazing. But it does take some getting used to in the taste department, I guess.

Hate to say that my dad threw his shaver in the sink and the care facility asked me to stop and buy him a new one. Walmart has the best prices for something like that (I don't usually like going to Walmart). But also, it is right next door to Krispy Kreme and what can I say.....I broke down. Bought 2 dozen for the care facility (my father can be such a poop, thought it might be nice) and indulged in a chocolate cream filled. Okay, and a glazed. Oh well. Isn't a new month coming up on friday???? whew. I will be more restrained in March!

:) Marguerite
