SUPERBOB has been having a hard time controlling his appetite this week (and, yes, we are talking about food here :p ) First, there was the valve anniversary pig-out (oops, someone with a pig valve shouldn't be using that term. :p . Then this morning he had to take SUPERDAWG to the vet and leave her for a teeth-cleaning. Yes, he frets excessively over Sadie girl, but, nervous and worrying, he stopped by Bojangles and got some greasy breakfast grub to assauge his woes -- and then got home and found his thoughtful wife had poached some eggs for him. Breakfast isn't usually his problem -- midnight snacking is. But now he has had 3 breakfasts. If the Man of Steel manages even a half-pound loss this week, it will be a miracle.

 Three breakfast's:eek: ...SuberBob better get his SuberButt walking with SuperDawg:D :D ;)

Bonnie....cold and windy here as well......If I did not have a mall close by I would opt for the coffee pot and the recliner every time in this kind of weather.....I have never had a Lean Cuisine....how many can I eat at a time?;)

Cold 50 mph winds here. SUPERDAWG is zonked from her anaethesia for her teeth-cleaning. And we have no mall nearby. Do I get a pass for the recliner and coffeepot and an evening of watching American Idol in sheer idle mode? :p (Oh, wait, Bubba predicted I'd be using SUPERDAWG as an excuse for not exercising, didn't he? Well, looks like he was right. :p )

I cringed when I read that you had left Sadie for a teeth-cleaning..Nothing to do with this diet-thread..but daughter moved last year and took her beloved Sidney (persian) age 12 for a teeth cleaning..to a new Vet..She (vet) called her about 2 hours later..saying..sorry..Sidney died.:( .Daughter was in complete shock..She had told this new Vet..Sidney has problems with anaethesia.....Be careful and not give him too much.....and on top of that. she got a bill for trying to revide him..Like $40.00..plus another $200.00 for office visit...I told her to throw the *&^% bill away..she said, she would drive back 50 miles if any of her other pets needs treatments....My Kallie age 7 needs his teeth cleaned, too. but scared for him to be put to sleep...He is a papillon and so small..He has bad breath sometimes and will not chew anything I buy for bad breath..Don't know what to do? bonnie

Bonnie,

So sorry to hear about your daughter's persian. I was scared taking Sadie in today, but this is the vet that managed to save her last summer when her hip was so badly dislocated. A really great vet and animal hospital. So trusted them, figuring if she got diseased teeth and gums, that would shorten her life. So far tonight, she is doing well. Still a bit groggy but has an appetite.

Wish I knew what to advise for your papillon. Hope there is a vet somewhere not too far away that can be trusted to do this safely. Can try brushing his teeth -- I haven't done that with Sadie, I confess, but after she gets over the soreness of today's cleaning, I am going to start trying.

I'm sorry, Bonnie. Very sad for your daughter. My little Cairn terrier gets put under anesthesia for his teeth cleaning every year (and his "fixing" 8 years ago, and his "saving him from death" urinary tract stones surgery last April). He seems to pull through quite fine. He is 15 pounds. If the plaque build-up is already causing decay, then I don't know if these ideas will work, but here are some things that worked for us. Carrots and apples (watch that they don't choke on big bites) help clean the teeth. You can go to a pet store (or look online) for dental wipes. They are easier than using a toothbrush but not as effective. I think they taste good. My dog lets me use them. Good luck!

And then, hello everyone. :D I have completely fallen off the wagon and I am sorry for disappearing. We were working hard to get our daughter off to South America, then MIL became ill in California, then passed away. Husband made 4 trips to see her recently. Memorial service was last weekend. I spent Valentine's Day helping husband and in-laws clean out her apartment....no time for chocolates!! But I'm back and frankly....very drained from the whole last couple of months. Whacked my bad knee on something and am hobbling around. Very cranky, actually!!

Tomorrow is bowling! At least I'll have some people cheering at me (last time I bowled a 176! very good as my average is about 125 these days) and that will get me laughing and just generally back in the groove, I think. Haven't actually exercised for weeks. I think I've just had the blahs.

Reading through all of your posts makes me realize that I do need you guys, so...... I'm baaaaaaaccckkkkk!!

Haven't gained or lost...stayed on course, even without the exercise, or with watching what I was eating. So at least my efforts at lifestyle change are somehow paying off...like I"ve leveled off.

Now I want to push ahead and try to lose 20 pounds by mid April. That's when my annual cardio visit is, with echo and all. I would love to have lost 50 pounds since my visit last year. That means I need to lose 23 pounds!! I just want to make my cardio smile!! She's been after me for 3 years to lose weight. I would love to have a 50 pound loss to show her.

Just writing about it is beginning to motivate me. Good. Thanks for listening!!!!!!!

Sounds like ya'll have been doing well!

Time for me to START MOVING again. And you guys, too!!

:) Marguerite

Lean Cuisine is good. Spaghetti is my favorite one, but I like most of them very well.

We had homemade pasta last night (daughter-in-law made it). It was delicious.

p.s. we're in Georgia, as of yesterday afternoon, hanging with my daughter-in-law's family, including 2 grandchildren and 1 grand dog (yellow lab). Perry is having a ball playing with the Lola, the lab.

Speaking of spaghetti.....We like spaghetti squash...a friend gave us a jar of roasted eggplant sauce (never had it before) and it was fabulous over the spaghetti squash....I wish we could get winter squash year round...love all of them:D

I find Lean Cuisines one of the better microwave dinners, but I use them only on those occasions when (1) my wife doesn't feel like cooking, and (2) I am too cheap or tired to take her out to a restaurant :D -- hey, we do eat out a lot. :)

One drawback of those microwave dinners -- check the label -- they tend to be very high in sodium. Might not be a good idea to rely on them daily.
