For as bad as the chimp man is doing - I'm doing good - we shall see if I am rewarded! . You know - when I am good I am very very good!
SB, I'm not on medicare - but I can guarantee you hospitals charge exorbitant prices. Here are a few examples from a recent audit done by Insurance co.
Aspirin - $1 each
Metoprol $4.00 each
Acetaminophen $2 each
Lisinopril 5mg $11 each
Potassium $4 each
This is just a few examples... most of the stuff on there I dont' even know what it is.
Long story - but my Insurance Co. only paid what Medicare would pay plus 20% for hospital bill and cardiac rehab. So guess who is now getting billed the difference - something in the neighborhood of $100K? :eek2: Yeah - let me just whip out a check for that - no problemo. I'm assured by my employer that it will all work itself out, just keep sending them the bills - well hell everyday I get a bill for one thing or another and they are getting nastier. Not to mention the phone calls too. I just found out the 180 day period the hospital had to appeal just means they aren't going to appeal the insurer (which happens to be my employer as we are self-insuredl. Talk about a conflict of interest.) The Hospital can keep coming after me for up to 4 years. I'm assured since I am being represented by lawyers etc. that it cannot go to my credit report (but it has for others - by mistake supposedly) and just be patient, don't worry about it. HA! I also found out now for other employees who need hospital stays they are pre-negotiating as if self-pay patient upfront and paying that, but 'didn't know we could do that at the time of your surgery and now it is too late'.) I'm furious and it is stressing me out to no end. I gave them another earful today (probably will get me fired.) and my last sentence suggested that maybe it was time to seek my own legal advice from someone who has my best interests in mind.
That must have caught someone's attention because now supposedly the head of the Law firm is going to call me (after repeated non- returned calls from an associate) and that they will reportedly try to negotiate something with the hospital so I can put this nightmare behind me. We shall see. I'm trying to go on living my normal life after a pretty traumatic experience. Hard to do when you mailbox is full of unpaid bills as a constant reminder.
Yes - I would like some cheese with my whine......:biggrin2:
