I hope everyone has had a good week and has big hopes for this week ... this is a sprint race, only four more weeks till weigh in on the Friday before Labor Day ... :eek2:

Race to Labor Day starting Weight: 209.5
This Week's Weight: 209.0

Good job, Cooker! I'll weigh tomorrow. I started the day off early and now have both grandkids. The scale will have to wait another 24 hours.:smile2:

Still working my way down to last week's weight. Good job Cooker. Good luck Mary..hehe (kids all day...one needs luck).

That ought to keep you moving!!!

As long as you are working your way down is the point ...

I could wait until tomorrow to weigh, but I'll take my lumps today. I'm up one pound, weighing in at 182. That's better than it was looking early this week. Cindy will weigh tomorrow.

Good luck to all of you Throwdowners! It's a short sprint to Labor Day.

Hi Everyone

Me, I'm holding steady at the same as last week 209, which is good. Saw my rhuematologist yesterday for my arthritis check up, first thing she said was "You've lost weight" what are you doing? You look good. Exercise, diet change AND particicpating in a weight loss challenge was my answer.

Seems as though the RA has improved from where it was 4 mths ago, the swelling is down and the pain although not as bad will continue to improve while the slow acting drug takes effect. She said my body is amazing that I've had such a dramatic and fast improvement, my body has it's own resources now for coping with the disease. The indicators she uses for how bad it is, some blood test, is off the scale, but since the fixin of the heart issues and 100% blood flow it proves the heart is central to the body to recover from alot of things.

Anyway congrats to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob

Any calorie loss gained by chasing grandchildren around the house was counterbalanced by an insane urge to indulge my starch cravings at Pasta House last night.:eek2:
I'm at 157, same as last week. I had peeked at the scales Tuesday, and I was down two pounds, so maybe I'm on the right track. Just got sidetracked last night.:rolleyes2:
Bob, you're doing great. :smile2: Wise, as long as those lumps aren't lumps of gravy, you'll be ok. :tongue2: Cooker, stay on track over the week-end!

For once, I did something right when I changed cardios and in the process got a new echo tech. The first two years I lived here in SC, the former cardio/tech pushed the panic button at my echos, seeing an aneurysm instead of reading my valve/root replacement correctly.

Long story short, last week, my GP ordered an echo I hadn't planned on, b/'c he was concerned about possible fluid retention (which seems to have cleared up and been nothing troublesome or chronic). Some of the main echo results from my new cardio/tech are that my valve structure is "normal.. with no evidence of stenosis or regurgitation. The valve is a bioprosthesis, with normal function and appearance."

Another highlight: aortic root dimension is 3.9 cm (quite a contrast with the 5.4 the previous team was seeing). Sure, I have some mild atrium and ventricle enlargement, but I always have -- b/c I have a big-boy heart. ;) Overall, I consider this a very good report card. May I have a cookie, mommy? ;) Or a Moon Pie? :wink2:

Okay, we've got another round of company through first of week. Then I will start weighing again for the current sprint (though when I played football, and did wind sprints in August, I vowed I never again would do any kind of sprinting in August. :tongue2: But I will do Throwdown sprinting. :smile2:

Superbob, it's no secret that you've got a big boy heart. It has to be big to hold all the love and affection that resides there.:smile2:
Have a cookie, have a moon pie, but leave room for a scone.:wink2:

Hi Everybody! Yep it's me - back again like a bad penny! My work project was finished yesterday. I think I have worked solid for 2 weeks now at least. I have now read all the posts in the last couple of weeks. Enough to know we are racing to Labor Day. I'm in. I know my weight was 207 on the 29th, so that is my starting weight. Guess what - my weight today is still 207 (better than the alternative.)

Superbob sounds like you had a real scare, but I'm glad to hear that it isn't as bad as you feared and that your fluid retention has left the building.
Cooker - glad you got to eat your way through America's heartland and that the incognito ref didn't let you count that big burst of weight loss!! I see you are doing well at sticking to your daily check-in.
Duffey - you gotta give in every now and then to that carb craving. I think pasta is a better choice than a lot of other things!
CanoeBob - we are all behind you on the cigarette thing. I am a recovering smoker myself and still chewing that devil nicotine gum.
Laurie, Wise and everyone else - glad your hanging in.

55 days of temps over 100 here - not talking just a little over 100 most of them are like 105 or 107. Miserable.

Here is some good news! I 'graduated' from Cardiac Rehab. Today I was discharged after 36 sessions. It took me awhile -but it amazing how far I have come from when I started.

Bad news - emailed with a VR friend who had surgery just two weeks before me in the same hospital. His surgeon is in the same practice as mine. He went in for a check-up feeling fine only to be told that his valve is leaking 'real bad'. Not sure what the problem is as yet. Bless his heart. I hope he doesn't have to do this again so soon. He got the new fangled ATS equine valve. I go to cardio next week because I'm still in a fair amount of pain and I would think at 6 months post-op I shouldn't be. To cough or sneeze is still absolutely horrible. OK - stop the whining Rhena.

So glad y'all are around to whine to! I also hope my check-up is better than my friend's.

Missed y'all - but I won't be such a stranger again! Time to get serious! I have a race to win!

Pasta sounds heavenly Duffster! A temporary two pound gain isn't a bad trade off... ; )

Glad you've gotten through with your grueling work project Rhena...and maintaining to boot. You deserve a big Texas star.

CanoeBob, yes, maintaining is a GOOD thing!

SuperBob, we are very happy to hear your report. So, you can don that cape again and protect us all from the likes of Krispy Kreme, Baskin Robbins, Olive Garden, ad infideliciosum...hehe.

Now for Cindy's report. She is up .5 this week. Hopefully next week will bring a correction for both of us.

Oh yeah, Duffey, my lumps were totally sugar. What else would they be? hehe

I felt a shift in the cosmic course and logged on to find the Throwdown was in full swing:thumbup: ... some up, some down, some the same but it seems all are working for the end goal of healthy weight, cool:cool2: ....

SB, glad you had a good report ... Bob, glad your arthritis is improving ... Duffster, glad you are eating pasta:tongue2: ... Rhena, good to see you ... Wise, up one, Cindy up .5 not to worry I know you can get it back in the downward direction ...

As for TheChimp, I'm down a bit (208) ... -1.5 for the sprint ... but you know I can carb load at the drop of a hat so I'm hoping the remainder of the week will continue to go south:biggrin2:

Hi all! I did pretty good this weekend - could have been worse anyway. It was those 2 margaritas that probably were the worst. As far the BBQ that was on offer I only indulged in a chicken breast and broccoli salad. Given my tequila haze I thought that was pretty good. Of course the night isn't over yet.

Everybody keep up the good work!

Saw a new cardio today. I like him very well, which helps a lot. Not having any problems. Will have an echo next week. He and I think it's routine and will find me stable since I'm not having any problems. Of course he wants me to exercise, but no heavy weights or marathons. I told him I don't think there is any danger of that! Now if I will just follow doctor's orders and exercise maybe I can finish this little stretch on the down side.

Just checkin' in. My first Monday where I wasn't expected at Rehab. I have to keep it up though - they lectured me over and over on that point, so I did walk the mall at lunch - 40 minutes close to 2 miles. Sweated off at least two pounds just getting in and out of a car that has to be 150 or so... so tired of the heat. It makes it hard to breathe regardless.

Wise, I see my cardio's PA tomorrow. I was due in Sept. anyway, but pushed it up a little because my chest still bothers me quite a bit. Probably that's just the way it is and I have to be more patient or stop doing something that is irritating it. If he says stop coughing and sneezing - I'm in trouble. My allergies are getting to me even with meds.

Later losers.....

Wise, glad you have someone you like ... I think that's super important ... as far as exercise goes I'm not walking either, hot hot hot and I'm just not going to do it ... maybe when Sherry goes back to work I can go early in the morning ... one thing though, I really expected to see you in a triathlon this year:wink2:

Rhena, It takes time to heal completely ... I'm glad you are keeping yourself active, that's a must ... if I was not pretty active at work I would be in trouble ... hang in there it will get better:thumbup:

LOL, I will have that scone when I can find a cranberry-orange one. They seem to be rare in the Palmetto State.

I had a call from the sweet nurse in my GP's office to go over the echo results with me (I had already picked up a copy from the cardio's office). She excitedly told me that the dimension of my aortic root had dropped from 5.4 cm to 3.9 cm. I told her that was because the previous cardio and tech had been measuring it incorrectly, and she said, no, no it was the result of my good exercise and diet. LOL. Thanks to vr.org, I know that no amount of exercise or good nutrition is going to shrink an enlarged root/aneurysm (go ahead, Bina, here's an opening for a naughty joke :tongue2: ) but anyway, bottom line, I am thankful I finally have found a competent cardio and tech to do the vital measurements correctly. If the GP nurse wants to offer me love (figuratively of course) for my healthy, um, shrinkage, I will accept that.;)

I have to admit that my expectations of your expectations were rather low. Me competing in a triathlon is on par with Betty White winning the Miss USA pageant. Actually, she stands a better chance at doing that..hehe.
