Well all I can say is TheChimp is toast as far as this race goes. I have been on a cookie and milk shake diet all week .... I have no explanation except that I love sweets.

Participation in the Throwdown seems to be at an all time low. It could be that people are busy or maybe it’s run it’s course. We had only five posts this week and two of them were from me. I have to admit I am not as excited about it as I once was and have not posted as much as in the past. I’m not really disgusted about my 3.5 gain this week and that may be my trouble with lack of interest or excitement.

So what’s it to be? Do week try and keep it going? Your call.

Red White & Blue Starting weight .... 215.5
Last Week .... 214.5
This Week .... 218.0
Race Stats: +2.5

I hate to see it totally close. I have had a BAD week and I know will post a gain, but all is not lost I know. I do miss all of the fun and supportive banter. The Superhero is busy eating newly found southern delicacies in tropical Carolina. Stress does a number on each of us at times (my week for that). I think we'd miss this thread if it totally went away, but I understand if we are too involved otherwise to keep it going also. Friends are friends, Throwdown or not.

I do miss the former members and would love to know how they're doing. Does anyone know about Rhena? I have wondered how she is doing. Hello Nelson, I know you pop in from time to time.

Nooooooooooooo! Don't close it down, Mr. Chimp! Superbob was so distressed to read your report, he immediately ripped off his cape and other superhero garb and jumped on the scales. :eek2::D

You have got a core of dedicated Throwdowners here (not including SB, who is not so dedicated). :eek2: I think you ought to keep it going. People do get busy. We had Memorial Day and Memorial Day hangovers (food wise) this week. And other excuses.

Superbob is up about a pound and a half this week. He is confident that he will lose those two pounds by next week, 'cause that has become his pattern: Gain two, lose two. You could call it the Carolina two-step. :wink2:

SB was worried that his negative quips from down deep in his rut might hurt some of the enthusiasm on this thread, so he was keeping quiet lately.

Steadily losing weight has become problematic. After so many years of preparing home cooked meals, DW likes to eat out as often as possible (last night it was Italian, one of her favorites. :eek2:) Meanwhile, Son of Superbob kindly sets us up with some special dining-out opportunities (tomorrow night, it's a dinner/theater).

Bottom line (no pun intended): If I can keep losing those 2 pounds I gain, I feel like I have accomplished something. Doesn't make for a very inspiring TD post though. And maybe I can do better. Yes, one can always do better.

I, too, wonder about some folks who participated so enthusiastically -- Rhena, our Aussie contingent, others.
Would love to see them return, if only to throw Krispy Kremes at us. :biggrin2:

I went back to the Archives to pull this first post, of the second week, of the Throwdown. The date is 8-28-07

Greeting Fellow Losers!!!

I will open the Monday morning weigh in thread on Sunday night. That way it will be ready and waiting for the early risers!!! Thanks to everyone for being the bur under my saddle:D :D

Please post like this

Starting weight:
Current weight:
Pounds +/-:

We use to weigh on SUNDAYS!
The second person to post to that thread was Granbonny. :frown2:
Wise was the third.
Superbob was right behind.
Krispy Kreme banter was going strong, and I stuck my head, and ref whistle, in to level a penalty on Superbob.:biggrin2:
Bina also got in on the action.:wink2:
Cooker posted to the thread over ten times that week.:eek2:
Actually, Cooker called the people out who had not reported for the week, and they all responded!:eek2:

I think the Throwdown goes the wrong direction when we don't post, because we're not doing well in the weight loss battle. No matter how we're doing, we should post.
AgilityDog is a great example of a Throwdowner who is always near her goal weight, probably doesn't really need us, but she always shares how she is doing on a week to week basis.:smile2:
Maybe we've become too blase to take the time to commiserate about our diet issues, our health issues, our valve issues, our friendship?
I don't know. I do know it's my birthday, and I refuse to let you sink the Throwdown today. Don't make me come to SC and kick your butt!

Don't try to change the subject.:mad2:
You're in trouble for suggesting we kill the Throwdown.:mad2:
It'll take a present to get back in my good graces.:biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:

D. Ref (that's rap for Referee Duffey) I think you're right about weighing no matter what and supporting and sharing at whatever stage we're in. I for one would have skipped weighing in this week because I know it will be a gain. Now I'm encouraged to share regardless! Now I'm ready to lose next week whatever I gain this week!

Superbob just thought of a motivational technique he can try, and maybe share here from time to time.

I am big on lists -- so was thinking of a kind of journal in which I write down what I have done right in one column, and wrong in the other.

So far today...

(Right) creamed wheat (wrong) regular milk (used Dw's; was out of my 1%)
for breakfast

(right) black coffee

(right) toast (wrong) didn't really need that butter on the toast

(right) walked Superdawg (wrong) probably could have added few more blocks,
but it IS getting SC-hot. Need to start earlier.

Okay, rest of day to go. Late in the day is when I commit most of my "wrongs." :redface2:

Thank you for your kindness, but I am NOT near goal weight and have not been for a year. BIG SIGH.
Goal 129 to 132
Current (after holiday party) is 139, up 1 lb since last week.

7 pounds over goal may not seem like a lot, but the last year or so it has been quite frustrating to watch the scale slowly creep upwards.
I ThOUGHT I was doing everything right! Exercise, Diet, and more exercise.

I can't cut out everything tasty from my diet, and I'd commit a felony if I gave up all alcohol (boss, hubby, this includes you two!), but I do practice portion control!

I think age is getting to my metabolism, no matter how hard I try.

Seriously folks, WW plus 3-4 miles walk/elliptical per day OUGHT to be enough for anyone. I can't AFFOrD a bigger wardrobe.

And yes, work is insanely busy, Jet keeps me busy, Husband likes me to pay attention to him once in a while, and now we're trying to get back to doing some dancing. Plus we're planning a spectacular vacation, since I finally feel medically stable enough, after almost 6 years, to do something big.

But I do stop in here from time to time to take a short work break. It's better than cigarettes!
