Superbob has his first appointment with a new cardiologist tomorrow. Won't go over the reasons SB is changing; have plowed that ground before. On first visit, understand they have you meet with their Physicians Assistant. That's fine with me. My experience with PAs has been good. I find they have more time to go over everything with you, maybe because they're not in such an all-fired big rush to get on a golf course. :D (We have LOTS of beautiful golf courses around here.) :smile2:

I hope the PA doesn't disappoint, and you leave feeling your heart is in good hands.

Ugh! Their office just called to say they have to cancel tomorrow's appointment and will call to reschedule. Well, if it's to play golf, I've got news for them. Supposed to have thunderstorms, maybe severe, next few days around here. Would be safer to see Superbob even though, of course, he is himself an electrifying personality.:p

I'm late to the party again! I missed my chance at a prize to guess the Chimp's weight. Hope you get those extra pounds off in no time. Damn you Easter Bunny!!! I have stayed the same. The Easter Bunny skipped my house this year. Should have joined Cooker and his seniors.

Starting for RW&B 215
This week 214.4
Last week 214.4
Total lost for RW&B: .6 Woo Hoo!

It looks to me LIke Cindy is th eonly one making some progress so far - But Wait! I'm geting back into my good habits again. Found a cool place called My Fit Foods. Freshly prepared foods never frozen all healthy and I don't have to cook. It is all take-out & microwaveable. You pick what you want outof a long line of refrigerated cases. They hjave a large variety for brkfst lunch , snacks and dinner. My big issue lately is I don't feel much like cooking so I go get fast good and we all knoww what that does. This is good fast food. A little pricey, but probably cheaper in the long run than what I spend at teh grocery store, not to mention my labor costs to cook it.

Thought I'd share a note I sent to a bunch of friends who'd been asking after me. I am a very happy camper. I am finally starting to feel noticeably better. Yipppeee!

I’ve gotten good reports from both the cardiologist and my surgeon, I’ve got 6 sessions of cardiac rehab under my belt (only 30 more to go), but the most exciting thing is what happened when I went for my lunchtime walk in the mall – the first one I’ve taken since the surgery. I could BREATHE . Before surgery I was having such a hard time keeping up with my walking buddies, I could keep up the pace – but I couldn’t keep up with the talking and the walking. Today I noticed such a difference. It is the first time I’ve been able to compare apples to apples with how I felt before and now. I didn’t make it around my usual 4 times, only 3 as I got a little tired – but I was able to BREATHE no light-headedness or gasping for oxygen . This is so exciting to me you just don’t know. The first really positive sign I’ve had that I am definitely better! Woo Hoo! Things are looking up!

I just came back from my noon walk. After my 5:30 a.m. elliptical (I'm up to 12 minutes every morning). This evening it will be 30 minutes walk with Jet and light weight work.

Breakfast was fiber one cereal, light yogurt, and fruit. Lunch was a Weight-Watchers' barley/bean/vegetable casserole and an orange. Dinner is 4 oz of salmon, salad with oil & vinegar, a small/medium baked potato with FF sour cream & light margarine.

Last Week's weight: 137.1
This week's weight: 138.7
up 1.6
How, I surely don't know. Weight watchers won't let me eat any LESS food.

It sounds counter intuitive I know, but add a few points to your daily allowance and see what that does. You may have just been dieting too long such that your body is in starvation mode. Kicking up the calories a little can boost your metabolism. It has worked for me before and this advice came straight from my WW leader. It is also a basic theory in the Curves weight loss plan. Diet for 3 weeks then go up to 2000 to 2500 calories for a week or two to keep your body guessing. You may gain, but you are also adjusting your metabolism making it easier for you to lose it again and more. Other though is to eat 5 to 6 small meals a day instead of 3.

We were led through an introductory class in this at our Mended Hearts meeting this month. It would take a lot more classes for me to be proficient in tai chi, but I thought this new study might be of interest to Throwdowners and maybe other forum members:

Sounds good but I would do better if they did tai chi housecalls. Superbob, can you fly an instructor to SE Missouri for me?

Still on track. 2 days in a row! Yippee! I hope I get some results this week to motivate me to stick with it. So far I haven't found a thing I don't like at My Fit Foods and it is all unprocessed, fresh and ready to eat. Still lots I haven't tried too.
