The Chimp is back! -- all is well with the Throwdown! Obviously, this explains the bananaless banana pudding we had in a surfside eatery last week -- the Chimpster cornered the banana market. :D

And Chimp you say no shenanigans but your avatar screams shenanigans! : )

It’s good to be home and getting back to a normal routine and of course back in touch with all of my VR and FB friends. We had a great trip! I don’t remember eating like I did on my last cruise, maybe it’s my age that made the aftermath of my gluttonous week what it is.:eek2: At every turn on the ship there was something to eat ... ice cream, pizza, cheeseburgers, hotdogs ... and these were stops on the way to or from the dining-room or buffet ... I need to get very serious about shedding these pounds. My hands and ankles have never swollen in my life but boy did they on this trip (age). Now eating is included on the list of things that age is attacking! :rolleyes2:

We missed San Juan; bad weather and engine problems made it impossible to make port in time and being a very short stop the captain decided to sail straight to St Maarten. From there its was off to St Thomas and then to Eleuthera Island. We took a guided tour at each stop as we find that the best way to see what the locals are proud of and want to show off. By far Eleuthera Island was the tour we enjoyed most as there was interaction with the locals including a visit to a school where it was the last day and the kids were putting on a Christmas play. Then we stopped at a restaurant / pub (not much more that a grass hut) and had lunch and danced with the locals to the music of the islands.

I will report my weight when I start next weeks thread. Maybe a Christmas miracle will magically vanish my added weight .... I can now apply for seasonal job as Santa with no pillows needed to stuff the costume:tongue2: .... Cheers

Ah, yes, the season of a thousand delicacies has begun. Superbob indulged some at the Mended Hearts party at the hospital last night. Folks brought their best home-cooked item, and if it had been a contest, Mrs. Superbob's sweet potato casserole would have been in the running for top prize. : )

Superbob managed a degree of moderation, though. At dessert time, a guy at SB's table got a huge slab of berry pie, but SB settled for just a thin silver of pecan pie -- just a taste or two, really. Moderation, moderation, moderation....maintain, maintain, maintain--- the mantra for the Man of Steel during the holidays! : )

Mo, mod, moder .... Heck!! I can't even pronounce the word:redface2:

Superbob had what he thought might be his last visit with the hematologist this morning. SB's weighed 5 pounds less than he did last time he stepped on doctor's scales! Hooray! Blood count was stable, but the hema wanted me to come back in 6 months to see if hemoglobin continues to hang in there. That's okay, because he has the hottest nurses on Planet Earth. There may be hotter ones on Planet Venus, but SB hasn't visited there yet. ; ) (For some reason my little smiley faces seem not be be working -- anyone else have that problem?)

Forget hottie nurses and get back to the subject that I am interested in--huge slabs of berry pie. Yum, Yum:tongue2:
Congrats on the 5 pound shedding and good luck with keeping the hemoglobin where it needs to be. Do you feel like you have more energy now that it's at a higher level?

Well, it's not up any -- in fact it's down just a smidgen. If it goes below a certain point, he will have to do a bone marrow test, but said he wouldn't "mess with me" right now.

The blood doc also tossed me a couple of 50-cent medical terms when I pressed him for possibilities. Of course I just googled them. (Why do I do that?) Now I can worry to my heart's content. Good for me.

Keeping the Man-O-Steel in my prayers ...

Thanks my friend The Chimp! I appreciate that, really do. It was funny, the pretty nurses did the blood draw, then the blood doc dashes in and says it's "stable." Maybe I should have left it there. But I asked a few questions (aren't patients supposed to do that?), and he indicated there actually had been a small further drop in hemoglobin (it's the trend that's worrisome), and he said he wanted me back in 6 months to see what the trend looked like then. If it falls below a certain number, then he will do a bone marrow test. But what I have wondered since, if there's something going on, why not do the marrow test now (unpleasant though it must be) and find out earlier if there's something bad going on, and start doing something about it? (It may have to do with cost containment.) So I've got 6 months to google and chew on the possibilities. Maybe I'll discuss with my GP first of the year and see if he thinks the process ought to be expedited. As an old-folks specialist, he's good about being proactive.

Okay, this was all a great big vent. I appreciate having the TD to go to. Henceforth, the Man of Jello will try to be seasonally jolly! :biggrin2:

Add mine and Cindy's prayers for SB. I think it's great that you have a proactive GP; that quality is hard to find these days.

I'm kind of holding steady at my pudgy weight, but I'm about six pounds above my 11/11 weight.

Hey Duffey, I need to find that map of yours to figure out a walking path from St. Louie to SB's front door, of course with a mad dash through the Chimps trees and vines.
