I'm getting this started but have not thought about getting on the scales till tomorrow ... It has been a pretty good week but TheChimp has a royal case of the crud and is not feeling very mischievous ... I may post in the morning just depends on if I have the energy to slide the weight on the scale ... was glad to see Earline is back, I need all the help I can get:smile2: ...

Here we go on recovery from Thanksgiving, good luck:thumbup:

Thanks Bina - I'll try to remember that at all the holiday parties coming up. :eek2: I think I have one evey weekend until Christmas. That is going to be tough! I've been a good girl all this week though. I figure if I eat healthy on non-party days then I can let myself splurge just a little on the party days.

Glad to be back on the throwdown and it actually feels good getting back to eating 'normal' - instead of all the crappy stuff I was eating. (although I do still miss margaritas) I went for an annual visit to an integrated medicine Dr. I see to keep me from being a cranky menopausal witch and since I'd seen him last I was down 22 lbs - so that gave me a boost! :D

Superbob believes he has gained 1.4 pounds since last week, and it occurs to him that he could just keep gaining, so that he would have more to lose in the great Saint Paddy's Day Race. However, being a staunch defender of TRUTH, justice, and the American way, the Man of Steel will endeavor to avoid putting on excess pounds during the Christmas/New Year's period.

Are we doing boys versus girlies again in the St. Patrick's race, or will it be individual?

Sympathies to The Chimp on fighting the crud. Most of Superbob's family is battling it, too, and Mrs. Superbob even has a touch of pneumonia. :eek2:

I dont' want to give away my secret Bob, but I guess I am. If I eat too many carbs say a few days before the stat of the race - it causes me to retain fluid., then when I go back to low carb at teh start of the race it just comes right back out so to speak! My carb cravings aren't all sweets, but more like mashed potatoes and gravy and ice cream and cookies and chips/dips. All danger foods for me.

On the St. Paddy Day's race - I gotta admit it's tough girls vs guys because we really are at a disadvantage. It is a scientific fact that men'e metabolisms are faster and they lose weight more easily.

How 'bout this idea. We split into two teams, but someone we could trust on the throwdown (hmmm that might be difficult. Maybe we enlist Bina - but then again can she be trusted?:rolleyes2:) will put all gal names in one hat and the guy names in another and draw one from each to make a coed team. If it turns out more of one sex than the other then we just flip a coin for the rest to see which team they go with. If people want to join in after the fact we'll first add to whatever team might be short by a person. If teams even, then flip a coin.

Have you noticed how every time we start thinking about one of these, I start making the rules. You think I might be an alpha dog? Then Duffey will usually add her rules too and we women will have it all figured out for you guys. :D

I'll post my numbers tomorrow.... hopefully some of the cruise weight fell off.

I'm at 134.2 today. Down .6 from last Wednesday. I didn't get near the scale Friday or Saturday!
Of course, with my real goal at 129, I'm still several pounds heavier than I want to be.

I have one Xmas party, with the obedience peeps on the 15th. The second party isn't planned yet, dinner with the retriever group. So maybe if I can stick with the new WW program the rest of the time, I can drop some of this weight I've been carrying around. Today I've planned my meals, and still have 7 points to play with, and I even added in points for a chocolate biscotti with the mid morning coffee!!!!

Good goin' Laurie!

Since the original "Ref" has not reasserted her authority, I move that we appoint Rhena the new Ref (of course under the general supervision of the noble Chimp). ;) Time and again, she comes up with great ideas for going forward with our new races. And she is the keeper of those wonderful spreadsheets. I think the idea of coed teams for the St. Paddy's Day race is a good one.

As for Superbob, he has just put in a call to his doc. He has been battling the creeping crud now for a full month -- it comes and goes, and has come back full force in past 2 days. DW has a touch of pneumonia and is taking strong antibiotics. Even the superhero may need such help as well:frown2:

Thanks to all who welcomed be back. I weighed this morning to get started. It's for sure not a pretty site. My weakness is sweets and my DIL made plenty last week. Thankfully she lives in Nashville so I was able to leave it all there.

Cooker Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hope you get better soon and as far as weight is concerned you know you can do it you've done it before.

to all of you that managed to take off some weight I am so jealous but happy for you.

I'm cleaning house right now which I hate to do so maybe that will use up a few calories.

Good luck losers Earline

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack..!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack..!

Welcome to dry land Rhena..! Ah yes, start making the rules; I need discipline..:eek2:

A big hello to David and Earline and a big healthy wish for Cooker and Superbob..

David and Earline are at a big disadvantage living in the land of the 'dim sum' and 'cajun cooking'..:biggrin2: but we wish you the best........well Earline anyway.. if we have the guys vs girlies.

Are we doing the gals vs guys or choosing up teams? I rather like our resident 'Alpha Dogette's' idea of the guys having such an advantage over us weaklin' girlies...that we need to have teams..

True to form, I have sinned..:mad2::biggrin2:, BUT, Thanksgiving was wonderful, wunnerful, que maravillosa, wunderbar..!

Yeah, I really need to get rid of that turkey avartar too..:eek2:

Blah, Blah, Blah from SE Missouri! :biggrin2:Crud has been the norm the last two weeks. So far I'm the last one standing.

Oops, and I can't weigh because I have to get rid of my turkey avatar. :wink2:Maybe tomorrow.:tongue2:

Oops, look at your avatar, Duffster. Your turkey has flown the coop, only to be replaced by a cuckoo bird! :D:tongue2:

I like the idea of mixed teams! I just weighed myself and I am at 214!! My lowest weight so far, I am surprised and happy!! On testing notes, I passed the stress test with flying colors, so cardio wants to keep me in the waiting room a little longer. Echo in a year or if symptoms get worse, sooner.

SB - are you sure that is a cuckoo bird - looks more like a woodpecker to me and Duffey is going to come peck on your wooden head! Sorry you are under the weather.. take care to not let it creep into pneumonia. Hope you've had a vaccine for that and the flu by now. My cardio wanted me to get both. BTW let me remind you that I am only a ref in training - I would never usurp Mary (she'd peck my wooden head too!)

Thanks for welcoming me back Janie - glad to see you are still around - even if wobbling after Thxgiving. I will try to post a couple of pics from cruise, if I can figure it out!

Glad to see you back Marie! Housecleaning definitely burns calories - keep it up! Laurie - sounds like you got this WW thing down. I'm not quite sure what is different about it now - except that all fruit is free - that is a plus for sure!

Sounds like a good report to me JJay - both on weight loss and the stress test. I know the waiting can be hard - actually for most of the 12 years I've been in the waiting room it was pretty easy - I didn't give it much thought - lived my life and just did my checkups as instructed. Now that my waiting time has shortened, I'm ever so nervous but will be glad to eventually have it behind me.

OK - I did pretty good getting some weight off this week. Since I wasn't real good about weighing when I got back, I'm thinking it's around 6 lbs I've lost since then and sad news is I'm still 5.6 lbs over what I was at the end of the Great Pumpkin Race. That'll be a little harder to get off than those first 6.

This weeks weight 196.6 (at least I'm back under 200!)

Tomorrow's party is a White Trash Christmas party - I asked my hostess what the heck is that? She told me to google 'People at Wal Mart'. OMG! I could wear something tight to show off all my bulges - but that is a disgusting idea. Maybe I'll just wear some mis-matched clothes and a silly hat or something. I dont' know - who ever heard of such a thing!? There will be trash can punch served!

Later gators! Get better Cooker!

I think the co-ed teams is a good idea. Kind of like Biggest Loser does. I want to be on the blue team please!

I weighed 173.2 this morning, which was satisfactory. That is down 2.2 from last week's weight that I didn't post and just .6 above my pre-turkey/gluten-free-dressing weight.

I just want to let you all know that I get some much enjoyment out of this Throwdown. All of the witty posters here add much to my week (more than you'll ever know).

Get well Cooker and anyone else fending off the creeping crud.

I have decided that the only way to get back with the plan is to be held accountable and that means to spill the beans (rather than consume them) and let you guys and gals try and whip me back in shape .... I have a ton of valid excuses / reasons for my debauch but will offer none ... I got on the scales Friday evening and weighed 207 ... I have put on 13 pounds in no time ... it is what it is ... maybe I should just keep on eating so I can sandbag for the St Patty's Day Race:biggrin2::tongue2:

Throwdown Starting Weight: 233
Last Weigh In: 194 (Great Pumpkin Race Final Weight)
This Week: 207
Up: 13

I didn't weigh this week. I thought the stomach flu had left the building, but one son and one daughter were down for the count Friday and DH started in (second time) last night.:frown2:
What does this have to do with my not weighing?:confused2:
I can't get to the scales because they've been continually occupied by other family members!:biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:
So far, I'm healthy but I'm getting really nervous.:wink2:

Superbob has pink eye, a gift of his grandkiddies. This is on top of the crud he has been fighting for what seems iike 100 days. Bottom line: Superbob hasn't weighed because he can't see the scales. :eek2:
