Good morning! ... I am proud to post that I'm up 1.5 from last week:eek2: ... It could have been much worse considering DW's cookie exchange and the barrage of holiday goodies ... all I can say is that I'm starting today with good intentions ... this is a tough time of year to be trying to reduce but it is one time a year and I for one will not deny myself the seasonal delicacies ... also keep in mind that as a southern gentleman (er, Chimp) I would never hurt anyones feelings by turning down what is most likely their best effort ... if they think enough of me to offer I will graciously accept with a grateful heart ... that said, I will do the best I can and make no excuses ... Merry Christmas from TheChimp Household:smile2:

Throwdown Starting Weight: 233
Last Week: 207
This Week: 208.5

Gee, Cooker, I may have some extra triple chocolate biscotti once I ship cookies to my sister's family.... The obedience group has dibs on any spare pumpkin spice cookies. DH wants me to make chocolate chippers, too.

I'm doing quite well on the new WW program. I'm at 133.3 today, down .9 from last Friday (and I'm weighing in a day early). Unfortunately, I'm not getting my noon walks in this week, between doctor's appointments and running home at lunch to let Jet out 'cause DH has been working away from the house some days.

We lost Tank on Thanksgiving, so at least I don't have to worry so much about coming home to find stray poop on the floor. The poor old dog just had so many things medically wrong, and then that Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, his laryngial paralysis got critical inside a few hours, and we wound up at the emergen$$$y clinic for euthanasia at 3 am on a holiday. I really thought he would make Christmas, but the poor dear has been DNR for 6 months now, and just had a crisis. Jet is adjusting to being alone with just the cat, but I keep looking around for a second dog to hand treats to.

Wait a minute, what happened to that 13 pound gain The Chimp was squawking about the other day? Following the chimp-a-rama bouncy bouncy makes the Man of Steel dizzy. :eek2::p SB had figured that The Chimp was foraging and bulking up in anticipation of shedding it all and winning The Great Saint Paddy's Day Race in a breeze. Was trying to figure out how to get on his team. ;) or...

Maybe the teams ought to be led by The Chimp and Superbob, clash of the titans (or the pretenders or the big talkers or whatever)

As for Superbob's weight, he weighed less at yesterday's doctor's appointment than he had at last Saturday's Urgent Care eye appointment and at last week's doctor's appointment... does it occur that SB spends an awful lot of time in doctor's offices? Do you suppose there are a lot of hot, sweet-talking Carolina girls working there as receptionists and nurses? ;)

Okay, what does Superbob weigh now...okay, he is shedding his cape and outfit now (sorry, ladies, the cam is not on) :D..... and the result is, down 0.4 from last week. However, there are plenty of steel-weight-equivalents to be shed on the road to the quaffing of celebratory green ale.

Merry Christmas to all....

PS with an edit: congrats on your weight loss Laurie, but so saddened to read about the passing of Tank.

Laurie, I'm sorry to hear of your Tank's passing. It is difficult to see animal family members go through health decline. Hugs sent from our animal loving hearts to yours.

Good on you Superbob. Any loss at this time of the year is a big deal.

Cooker, 1.5 isn't bad at all. I'm trending up this week. I've been experimenting with making gluten free bread and biscuits. I've also experimented with eating them, which has caused my up trend. I'm hoping to lessen my gain by Saturday.

Laurie ... so sorry to hear you lost a pet ... after losing my second Labrador Sam-2 (Sam-1 was stolen) to hip dysplasia I decided no more dogs for a while ... it hurts and you will be in my thoughts ...

I know, I know... two named Sam? ... I named the second Lab Floyd but kept calling him Sam so Sam it was:redface2:

Laurie, omgosh I didn't expect to read of your loss while checking up on throwdowners....I just know that
your darling "Tank" had complete love and the best of care during his time with you. We are fortunate to live
in a time where a cherished pet or any animal can pass away with dignity and compassion.
Tank: when you are at the rainbow bridge please search out a cute chocolate Lab named Cleo, she will be
your loyal friend until we all meet again.
xxooxx

Superbob can't believe what he saw when stepping on the scales this morning -- down 5 pounds from yesterday's reading! What the heck is going on? SB won't book this as a loss because tonight Son of Superbob is taking us all to a Brazilian steakhouse for some serious eating. Sanity will return soon enough. Seasonal cheers to all....:smile2:

Me me me ... take me:biggrin2: ... I'm down a pound this morning ... back on low carbs until the next fall to temptation:biggrin2: ... Bob, what's the name of the place? ... I think DW and I ate there the last time in MB ... the one we were at had a huge salad / dinner bar and the steak carving at the table ... it was great!

Ah yes, it is Rioz...a slice of Heaven. Superbob will have to try to partially fill himself at that spectacular salad bar first, and then select among those succulent cuts of meat. Hey, it's consistent with the Atkins Diet, right? (not that I'm on Atkins exactly). Certainly no problem getting quality protein there. Will leave any decadent desserts to Mrs. Superbob, who has a sweet tooth that surpasses all...

Me Three for the steak house!!! I lost another .6 overnight! Down to 132.7. I swear, the only thing I've cut out since recommitting to WW is cruising the candy bowl at the office. I didn't realize how many calories I must have been eating!

Thanks for the condolences, everyone. Even when we know it's coming, it's hard. Tank has 2 other labs, a mixed breed, and a passel of cats keeping him company while he waits for us.

Laurie, I'm sorry to read of Tank's passing. Congrats on recommiting to WW; it looks like you're on the permanent road of below goal weight.:smile2:

SB, I bet my sweet tooth can keep pace with Mrs. Superbob's. Ask her if she wants to engage in a sweet tooth Throwdown.:wink2:

Chimp, I'm glad you lost the pound. :smile2:I think it STINKS that you sent it to me. Bad boy.:mad2:

I'm up one pound this week.:frown2:

Probably no numbers until we get serious about the St. Paddy's Day Race.

Superbob behaved well at the Brazilian steakhouse. Started with nice salad with diverse fixings (including quail eggs), then just slowly savored cuts of beef they brought around. Stopped before getting uncomfortably full. Of course DW the Sweet-Toothed one was the only one in the party to get dessert -- a decadent creme brule. She insisted that I sample it, so I had just one spoonful. No, Duffey, DW would crush you in a sweets-eating contest. This is a woman who insists I get her a big slice of cake when she knows I'm getting a Starbucks coffee; who stuffs her pocketbook with cookies and brownies at a party; who buys bags of candy at the grocery store and hides them around the house; who buys a slice of coconut cream pie and doughnuts when we go to the bakery to pick up a huge birthday cake....:eek2: You would be toast, Duffey. :tongue2:

Call me milquetoast!:tongue2: I lost at "buys bags of candy at the grocery store and hides them around the house;" I can live without candy. Everything else seems reasonable though.:wink2:

After the ordeal of mall shopping during the season, there is no better refuge than Logan's Roadhouse. Buckets of salted peanuts, yeast rolls to die for, country music ("Ah-ooh-hoo, play something country"), football on the tube, and meat cooked to perfection -- that about covers everything -- short of babes popping out of cakes. ;)

Well, I gained 1.9 lbs. this week, nearly erasing last week's loss. That's all without desserts and gluten and dairy. I need to find me a Brazilian steak house and drown my sorrows in high fat beef. ; )

Our son manages the local Logan's Roadhouse. We're partial to it.:smile2:

I recommend that form of sorrow-drowning, Wise. :D Don't worry, the Kentucky Flash will be in the running for St. Paddy's Day! :wink2:

Yep, I remember that, Duffey. Logans really is one of our favorite places. Nice and relaxed, good food, fun. Best of all, I usually have just escaped the mall when I land there. ;)

We think Logans is a great place too. Ours is also directly across from one of our malls; must be business building strategy in attracting shopping-whipped men.

I remain the same. I weighed on Friday just didn't get around to posting.
I hide candy as well. I'm partial to snickers but any chocolate will do.
We have a Logan's near the Mall as well and we love it there.
Have a good week everyone

I've been MIA - sorry - too much work makes me a very boring girl. While I said I wasn't going to do any emotional eating - I have succumbed. There is just food everywhere you turn! My willpower has gone to the North Pole to visit Santa or something. I'm taking a pass from a formal weigh- in this week. I think I was up about 3 lbs as of Friday and I'm sure it hasn't gotten any better since. Gotta STOP myself! Jan. 2nd couldn't come soon enough for me. I have a half-decorated Christmas tree sitting in my living room and I lost interest. Marley's ghost is going to rain down on me - as I am feeling very bah humbug this year.

Let's hope I can get it back together soon!
