Just saw a huge bin of double-decker Moon Pies by the checkout at Food Lion -- two for $1. Never saw these back in Virginia. Has The Chimp stimulated economic demand for Moon Pies down here in the subtropics? :D:D:D

I don't know how to say this, but I just cannot conjure up a good visual of a "moon pie :eek2::angel: Maybe Cooker could supply a good view...:biggrin2:

Long ago, they were a staple of small country stores in the Deep South, and were best washed down with ice-cold RC Cola.

I hadn't seen them, or noticed them, for many years and now they seem to be everywhere. Maybe Cooker has memories of them from his travels in the South. I know you asked for his perspective, not mine.

I remember eating moonpies as a kid in northern Indiana. Drank RC Cola too. My eastern Kentucky relatives must have imported the moonpies. They probably had theirs with moonshine. ; )

Hey Rhena, have a good time on your cruise!

Wise, I should follow a similar diet plan. I'll be following your progress with interest.

I'll be following it with interest too. This is the first time in a while that I haven't had ice cream in four days. I haven't had any processed dessert. I have had honey with peanut butter on bread (gluten free). The gluten free bread I found was fine as far as taste and texture, but it has soy in it. Soy is a no-no per my doctor as far as thyroid issues go; same goes for flax. So, I'll look at Whole Foods in a few days for another choice.

Tonight for dinner I ate green beans that Cindy cooked (fresh). Then we had fresh pineapple, strawberries and grapes. I sprinkled some honey and crushed walnuts on my fruit for a dessert effect (I guess). So far so good.

Bob, I think there's a play on words involved . . . . MOON pie . . . . . Janie probably believes Cooker might know more about MOONing Pie than a good Superhero such as yourself.

Oh Superbob is not such a goodie-goodie that he knows not what "mooning" is all about. Is just fascinated with the revived popularity of the delicacy -- not the act, though some near-mooning is apparent on the Grand Strand during the warm months. ;) (I could post pictures of that kind of mooning but Hank might not think it appropriate. ;)

Superbob admits to being a little nervous this morning. After two dental consults about my meds and heart history, I finally am to have the upper wisdom tooth extracted this morning. Saying a little prayer there is no bacterial migration to the heart. Want to move on to the echo next Monday.

Prayers for SuperBob:thumbup:

A prayer and a good thought for our resident Superhero. Do you have the echo next Monday? I thought it was the 17th? Is the Duffmeister wrong?

Thanks Duffmeister. The echo will be next Monday, the 15th, with a follow-up with the cardio immediately after. (In the past, he has had me come back in a week). Plus I will have in hand an order from my surgeon in Virginia for copies of everthing on a disk. All in all, the "superhero" is getting as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Hey SB & Cooker. Did you see the news story about the professor who ate twinkies and such for two months and lost 27 lbs. plus dropped bad cholesterol, improved good cholesterol, etc.? He threw in some veggies to be an example to his kids. He also had a multivitamin and a protein shake each day.

Maybe you could modify it to a Moon Pie Diet? hehe

Well, it went blessedly quick. The numbing process was the worst part. Then they tried to put an oxygen mask on me because of my heart history, and I felt the darn thing impeded my breathing so I told them to take it off. (Maybe my aversion to a ventilator kicked in.) It was much, much better, breathing naturally.

Finally, the oral surgeon must have had that wisdom tooth out in under 2 minutes -- surely a record! I have to keep sticking gauze in there because of bleeding, and have pain meds on hand but hope not to take them. Thanks for all your expressions of concerns and prayers, I really appreciate them. While I was primed for the thing to take an hour of probing and pulling and slicing, I was thinking of you all. When the doc quickly said "okay, that's it," I nearly stood up and cheered, almost knocking over the poor little nurse who was trying to stick gauze in my mouth. ;)

Maybe a soft diet will help me score points in the Throwdown!

I like the way you think:biggrin2:

Here's the story about The Twinkie Diet:

MY blood sugar would go through the roof on Day One.

But it would be soft! Glad to hear the tooth yanking went well for you SB.

Thanks, Kentucky Flash! :smile2: It is amazing -- I had one yanked years ago in Northern Virginia, and the pain lingered for many weeks, and required return trips to Doctor Sawtooth. This time, I barely have even any slight soreness the day after. I am greatly relieved, having expected a repeat of the ordeal.
