Superbob, don't you just love the waiting game. Still praying for a good outcome for you friend.

I am the only household member who mentioned weighing again this week. I am down 1.1 this week, going from 173.7 to 172.6. I'll take it. I didn't exercise as much this week, so I'm glad to lose at all. I did eat right though. I am not totally sugar free, but almost. I made some gluten free/dairy free brownies with matching icing. No one would know if they weren't told. It's good to have a goodie other than fruit or peanut butter & honey.

Way to go, Kentucky Flash -- you da man! Osn't it a wonderful discovery to find sweet treats that are healthy? :smile2:

Yes it is. I just made my version of Pop Pop pancakes, but I didn't have an popplings to feed them to. So, we had to eat them all. This was definitely a splurge and they were pretty good. They were topped with Earth Balance dairy free butter and blue agave nectar. I have to say that the agave nectar (similar to honey, but almost like pancake syrup) is one of the best things I have discovered. I even use it in my coffee and it's great.

Wow -- you are into some serious dietary modification! Keep us posted; may have to try some of that. Definitely sounds healthier than the McRib I had for lunch.

Hi all,

Ok, I have a lot to loose!!! (take that as you wish!) :):)

I'll join this throwdown...but as it's my first week, I'll tell you all that I can't tell how much I've gained or lost since last week, since I've not been keeping track!

My task for tomorrow is to weigh in...but I know I'm about 45 kilograms overweight... That's over 100lbs for those of you who don't speak metric...

I'll appreciate any and all encouragement on the way...but how do you avoid the christmas goodies (and the week in Switzerland with my godson the week afterwards - all that Swiss chocolate!!!)

HELP

David

Yay! another metric speaking person! :)

All the best for your -45kg! You can do it!

I haven't been visiting the throwdowners much lately, as I have reached my target weight, but I might need some encouragement to stay there over Christmas!

May be healthier but, since it was still a splurge, I feel McHeftier and will need to behave by eating more vegetables and fruit the rest of the week. I had the McRib in a past life and I thought it was yummy.

Okay, the results of Superbob's ct-scan of last Friday are in. And the result:

"No change" in dimension of ascending aorta since the ct-scan at the first of the year!

That's despite the echocardiogram last week indicating a possible increase from 4.9 cm to as much as 5.6.

Whew!

This is second year in a row I have had this scare. I don't know whether to be grateful or irked at the cardio and his staff.

Overall, though, I am very thankful. My surgeon looked at last year's ct-scan and said no problem -- no aneurysm, everything's working fine. So I am taking that as the status quo.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Oh and thanks for all your prayers and good wishes!

Good day all, that is great news superbob. Been a busy weekend so did not get weighed in last Friday. I was out camping with the boy scouts (yes tents) The warmest temp was about 20 on Saturday and the low was around 15, so my weight is down to 215.6 this week, using all that extra energy to stay warm. On sat night there was a big Thanksgiving feast with 2 turkeys and all the fixings, the boys did a good job on the food. (we used a field made oven with aluminum foil and charcoal briquet's to cook the turkeys), lots of dutch oven deserts, so I am pleased that I still lost some weight!!

Tomorrow is my yearly echo, and I will let all know how that turns out.

I'm glad your ct-scan came out ok. Now you can enjoy the hoilday and not worry.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you !!!!!!!!!!!! Now is the time to eat eat eat eat..:):)

Wow. That sounds like a big feast. Wishing you a good echo tomorrow. Keep us updated.

Terrific news SB! As Nelson said, now you can relax and enjoy Thanksgiving and eat some yummy stuff.

Jjay, that is good indeed to partake of good food and still lose weight!

Man, turkey and desserts cooked out in the great outdoors -- that sounds wonderful, jjay!

Good luck on your echo --- if the numbers are a bit off, I can personally attest to the inexactness of echo measurements! :redface2:

Just one more thought about echos and then I'll quit hijacking this thread and leave it to the important stuff -- namely FOOD and being thankful. ;)

I hope no one puts off having an echocardiogram because of the inexact or even inaccurate measurements I have gotten from them 2009-10. Before my surgery in '05, the echos were telling the right story and were critical to me getting my life-saving operation. I think -- think -- the problem here is that the echo is picking up images of my dacron graft aortic root and giving the tech the false impression that it is an aneurysm. Thank God for ct-scans because they showed the true picture that all is well.

My cardio scheduled me for a follow-up echo in April, but I am wondering why possibly go through all this again so soon because I have a c-scan-to-c-scan one year comparison verifying "no change." I truly like my young cardio and his tech and appreciate their attentiveness but I am also wondering if I should switch to a more experienced crew.

Okay, that's it. No more thread hijack from me. :p The real moral from all this is that I am very, very thankful for all my blessings. Thank you again wonderful friends for caring and putting up with me. And to one and all:

A Very Happy Thanksgiving!

Very happy to hear that the echo results were off kilter, SB. I don't consider health news to be something that hijacks this forum at all. Our lives, all aspects, impact our eating habits. And for many of us, certainly for me, the Throwdown is place where I will discuss my life outside the VR forum.
Soooooooooo, I've foolishly invited my side of the family to dine with us on Thanksgiving. 34 at last count. :eek2: I will not be weighing this upcoming week, and I'm dubious whether I'll make it back to the VR website before Friday.
Everyone have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy yourselves! :) Come January 1, the flogging resumes.:wink2:
