Oh Rhena, it's hurricane season anyway. You don't want to go to the Carribean right now. I did Hurricane Gilbert on Jamaica in '88 or so. Blech.

Agility Dog - you are so right... I don't know what I was thinking,! :) That at least is what made me get travel insurance and I paid a little extra for pre-existing conditions, so I should come out whole financially anyway. Another silver lining....

I'm afraid its been almost a year since my AVR and aneurysm surgery, but the pounds have crept up on me. They snuck in when I wasnt looking. Last years pants were loose and are now tight. My good attitude has gone in the crapper, with my weight gain, depression surely isnt good for the waistline,am I right? Any tips, tricks or stupid pet tricks any of you can impart will likely be scoffed at and then followed by the likes of me. I just wanna lose a pound by next week. Baby steps. Oh, and boy am I a sea food eater. I see food and I eat it. Eat more when stressed though.

No magic bullet to offer ... you already hi the nail on the head, baby steps ... shoot for a pond a week ... I love to eat and I love seafood too ... I’m lucky that I like broiled or grilled better than fried but as you know some things just have to be fried ....:DCRAB CAKES:D ... The ThroDaow will help with humor and accountability ... just take it one meal/snack at a time but don’t deny yourself the foods you love....

I'm up 2 lbs from last week, 129.7, or about .7 over goal... I started my birthday eating early--actually commiserating with a burglary victim/co-worker and saying bye-bye to a former co-worker. That stuff always involves food.

Tomorrow night is Macaroni Grill (lobster ravioli) with friends and Monday is another local Italian joint with the work gang. Then I have to ditch the salt and carbs again. Sigh. Oh, wait, there's the Labor Day party coming up!

Birthday weight gain does not count:D

I weighed yesterday morning and am reporting that result because we ate Mexican food last night and didn't eat lite enough to weigh in today.

I lost 2 lbs. for the week and I am pleased with that.

Cindy is holding this week. We've had a good week food wise and expect both of us to post a loss next week.

Welcome Rhena. This is good, supportive, nutty group of Throwdowners!

Great job! ... lose as much as you can because you know we will be eating in Gatlinburg:D

Thank God we don’t weigh-in on Mondays:eek: ... This weekend was a food-a-thon for TheChimp ... Not one but two major celebratory meals:eek: ... I see whole grains and prune juice for the next few days my only option, sorry Ref:rolleyes::p

That about sums it up for us too!

This was a bad food weekend for me too. Dinner at a friend's house who is a gourmet cook, and then taking my in-laws out to dinner, and coming back for some of my MIL's peanut butter pie. Today is a new day starting with some Kashi cereal.

Guess I get to be another "newbie" LOL Weighed in today for the first time and, ready for this: LOL 157.0 I need to lose about 30 lbs to get back to my health weight. Gonna do my best and hopefully with all of you, it will be better. Told my DH last night that we all, me, him and our granddaughter, need to lose weight. He weighed in at 204.5 and needs to lose about 20 lbs. Our granddaughter, Taylor, weighed in at 236.0 and needs to lose about a 100 lbs. She is big like both her parents, her dad is 450 and her mom is 300, so I have pretty much forced all of them to start losing weight. Her mom was diagnosed as a diabetic, so that is pretty much forcing her to do what she would not do before...stay away from the Dr. Pepper....lol She was drinking more than a 2 liter bottle every day!

Thanks for starting this and for letting me take charge of my weight and try to help my family too!!!! You are all AWESOME!!!!

Thanks Cooker for the heads up! I am walking as of TODAY and have a 8 x 11.5 note stuck to my bedroom TV that says GET UP AND WALK!!! I guess, whatever it takes to get motivated.

Welcome to the ThrowDown ... wishing all success!!

Yesterday my husband uttered the following words: "I have GOT to lose some weight!" Now, the doctors and I have been saying this for awhile, but maybe (and it's a big maybe) he'll finally follow through? Sure would make it easier for me to do the same.

He has had a bad back for a while and last week he really screwed it up. Which, of course, means I am taking care of 95% of the babies' needs, since he can't pick them up. He's at the doctor right now. I really hope he's back to normal soon. I'm exhausted!

Then again, maybe not. He just came back with FIVE different flavors of ice cream!

Gday all...yeah...I know...I have been MIA...still havent lost or gained any weight but as spring is about to be sprung on us southern hemisphere peoples its looking like a good time to get my bones moving and banish those extra pounds...

Now I have lots of reading/catching-up to do.

Hi all. Joining in again after long weekend with company and catching up. I had a plan and worked my plan :) to stay on track. I think I starved my guest!! She said she wanted to lose weight anyway. ;) I pretty much stayed even so far I think and I'm happy with that. Hopefully some lost by Fri. Next challenge is a trip to Port Aransas, TX with a bunch of friends. I need to make a plan for that too to help stay on track but overall they are a pretty healthy bunch of folks. This trip is a consolation prize for having to cancel my trip to St. Lucia. I gotta tell you the Gulf Coast of Texas doesn't quite resemble the coast of St. Lucia, but if I close my eyes I can hear the waves and visualize. I do need a change in attitude/latitdue to paraphrase Jimmy Buffet. Friday will be here before you know it y'all...pay attention to what you put in your mouth. :D

Rhena
P.S. It rained today! It rained!

Rhena ... Good job and stick with it/us ... we all know it's hard to get ponds off but it seems a bit easier with this zany cast of characters:)

Thanks Cooker! It helps to know you got a lot of people rowing in the same boat. Now everyone pull their weight (HeeHe). You zany people will have to keep me accountable.

Colleen S. Glad you are with us here.. now Get up and Walk as your sign says - a little at first and then a little more . Consistency is the key!!! I promise you will feel better :):):):) I am just giving you a hard time, but you said you wanted to be motivated. I've been making 4 laps around the mall pretty regularly ( little less than 2 miles - leave money & cc at home.i) and tried Curves again yesterday, just a little slower than usual to keep my bpm around 100 as instructed. The metropolol (sp?) they gave me has made a huge diff in my heart rate, so I am glad I can work out some again. Helps my stress immeasurably. They have a free weight loss class I might try too.

Keep up the good work everybody and special welcome to all us newbies.

RS
