Greetings! Here we go on another week of chasing our weight loss goals. I have had a great week thanks to a long weekend in the mountains and a trip to our favorite pancake house and the worlds best blueberry pancakes!! I was introduced to this "Little Pancake House" by our very own Wise so I sent him a pic to show my appreciation and maybe to arouse a tiny bit of jealousy. :p

I'm back on WW and just trying again to stick with it. I remember SuperBob saying something about a race to 1-1-15 (RTNYD15) so I'm in. I did get on the scales today and it better than expected so I will start the race with today's weight. How did your week go? Have any great strides one way or the other? Hope Duffey is feeling better and has a great vacation!!!

RTNYD15 Starting Weight: 230.75

It's good to hear that you and Sherry made a trip to the Throwdowners' favorite pancake house, and I am jealous even if Wise is not.

Duffey is not feeling better which has resulted in talk of postponing our departure date, but we've decided to take our time and not rush the drive.

In the meantime, I'm sitting at 150 pounds today, so I guess that will be my starting weight for RTNYD15.

Everyone have a great week!

Superbob will weigh tomorrow, his WW weigh-in day. He does the Online for Men, but maybe he should go to meetings so that sweet ladies would offer encouragement and feed him grapes. : )

Anyway, mañana.

It is Friday in Chicago, and I'm not too happy with myself. I'll start the RTNYD15 at 160.0 - just about where I was last spring when I started my hiatus from scales. I know I've kept up with my workouts and walking this summer, almost as much as I did last year, but the weight just "hangs around."

I can think of all sorts of excuses for not losing weight, such as stress-eating (summer is the highest-stress season at my job), getting older, etc., but the fact is that I need to re-start my weight management program, and this group is the best place I can think of to do that. I'm not "big" enough to make WW worthwhile - I'm just trying to lose about 5 pounds. I'm already down 12 pounds from my peak of 172, and I can easily see why people say that in dieting, the last 5 pounds are the toughest.

Good to see y'all again. Let's have a great fall! (Autumn, that is. . .don't anybody go and get hurt.)

I maintained this week at 132, which I'm grateful for because although most of my exercise and daily eating and tracking were good, I still need to extinguish a couple old situational habits that I fell into this week (stress eating and social eating at parties). Those typically can reverse everything good I do. I'm going to work my motivation exercises and coping tools I've learned to deal with those. They DO work, I just have to use them!! I definitely stress eat and social eat way less than I used to.

I'm with you, epstns, I just want to lose 5 pounds so I can say I lost 50, and maybe get my LDL down more (still borderline), make it easier on my heart to haul me around, and all the other things I want that weight loss can provide. I think the mental game is key for the last 5 and I have the tools to get off that plateau so I'm using them. I want to lose and maintain during the race to New Year's. I would like to lose these 5 pounds only once during that period. : ) So we can be buddies in that epstns. My race start weight = 132.

Good job getting back on the horse Cooker, and geez I hope you feel better soon Duffey. Hope you have a good report Superbob.

Duffey I'm sorry you are not feeling better and I hope you spring back SOON!!!!

Steve glad you are back with us... we all have a goal in mind and yours sure seems obtainable by race end!

Superbob I'm doing WW (old points) and just keeping track of what I eat and points ... tell me about WW online for men??????

dornole you can lose the last 5!!!

Good luck to everyone with their goals and health!

Did I suggest a Race to New Year's Day? Yikes, I talk too much. Okay, I own it.

Only God, Weight Watchers, and Superbob know Superbob's starting weight -- it's steel weight, remember, so it looks stark listed here. But since it is charted every Friday by WW, I can report downs and ups (hopefully more of the former than the latter) every Friday. Today, it appears I might have gained a pound or so over the past week, and that disgusts me -- I've been exercising as much as I can & I've been taking PT (last session this afternoon). I know what the problem is -- I can eat sensibly throughout the day but late night I start munching things that have too many calories. Bad, bad, bad. Another problem is that we go out to eat a lot -- which shrinks the bank account but NOT the waist. (Right now I am trying to figure out different ways to step on the scales to erase that offending number I saw this morning.)

Anyway if I start losing some of this steel weight, I will just leave all of you behind in this race. What's the prize for winning?

Okay next Friday will be my first minus-or-plus report.

Mr. Chimp: Browse WW site and you ought to find the Online for Men option. You get the tracking system, online reporting, plus you can make online friends for encouragement, Don't think I have spare time to go to weekly meetings, so I find this best for me right now.

Cooker, yes the pic evoked the intended pang of jealousy! I see that I was correct in my guess that you ate blueberry pancakes. I don't know what would make me think that.

hey whats with the "this" in the title of this thread???? I did not put it there and I don't have the edit function on that post but do on other ones in this thread. Not liking all this stuff....... : - /

Hmmmm …. did they give you extras on those scrumptious biscuits, too? Looks like a chance for Superbob to grab an early lead in the Race to the New Year. : )

I'm going to have to exist on "Michigan Floats" all week. (For those of you not from around the Great Lakes, a Michigan Float is a toothpick floating in a glass of Lake Michigan water.) Out to eat both Saturday (Maggiano's Little Italy - pasta!) and Sunday (Wildfire - macadamia nut encrusted halibut). Not good to my numbers - up almost a pound in two days. And the weather is not cooperating - cooler and cloudy/rainy, so less chance to walk. I'll do the best I can with what I've got, though, and I'll have to "own" whatever I do.

I'll do what I should during the work week - eating sensibly and exercising normally. We'll see how it goes. . .

I had to ask for them ....but I did :-D .... I'll need to join Steve in those Michigan Floats to get back to where I was!!

well, Superbob encountered a cranberry-orange scone at the mall Starbucks yesterday. Naturally, he had to have it -- warmed up, it was extra good. That one scone ate up about one-fourth of my allotted Weight Watchers points yesterday but it was worth it, to the very last crumb!

wow, Superbob thinks he's seeing some downward progress in sneak peeks on the scales. Numbers Friday on WW reporting day. Sneak peeks are good because they provide incentive to bypass doughnut shops or coffeehouse pastries (oops almost had a typo -- "pasties" -- avoid those too LOL)….So SB hopes all the TDers are having a good week.
