Greetings!! ... Well I’m up three this week ... the Christmas meal and subsequent piles of treats took it’s toll ... that coupled with the fact the pool was closed for a week made losing any last week very tough ... As of this morning I’m down three pounds for the maintenance phase .... I’m happy but it has been 5 weeks since Thanksgiving and I’m only down 3 pounds so I need to double my efforts to lose a pound a week by Thanksgiving 2013!!!!

I will weigh on Monday and if I have dropped any I will amend my official maintenance weight .... peace out:cool2:

Maintenance Phase Starting Weight 228.5
Last Week .... 222.5
This Week .... 225.5
Maintenance Status .... -3.0

Side Bar: As always we welcome anyone who would like to join us. We are a group who has come to call each other friends. We jest and joke, laugh and cry and are always here for each other. Never mean spirited and always understanding in the ups and downs of weight loss ... we strive for better health. Come join the fun, we would love to have you!!!

Okay, for reasons of ego and vanity, I am going to give myself until tomorrow morning to do an "official" maintenance weigh-in.

An unofficial peek this morning showed I am within the allowed range of plus or minus 3 from the declared maintenance weight, but the sad news is that I was down 2.7 last week but now I "appear to be" up a pound or two. I want to see if I can shave a pound off that. Ugh, I really overindulged! Guess I need to go back to eating salmon and celery. :eek2:

I am up 4.6 pounds for the maintenance phase. I really thought it would be better, but it isn't. I am ramping up mentally to make a long term goal for the coming year to be measured incrementally in our coming weight loss phases. I have several reasons I have to lose a lot, but I want to focus each phase on positive benefits and goals.

Cooker, great job! SB, it sounds like you've done well too; sometimes one extra day is all you need. I'd join you for salmon and celery, but it would have to be just salmon for me.

Well, shucks: Superbob is up 1.8 pounds from his 265 starting weight for this maintenance phase. It was SB's bright idea to declare as "winners" those who could keep weight change no greater than 3 pounds during the holiday, so I guess ol' Superbob is one of the victors. But it doesn't feel like a real win. To be sure, we should appreciate and enjoy some of the wonderful food graciously put before us in a season of celebration, but SB could have benefited from slowing down and enjoying that good food slowly and more moderately. Still, it's probably no reason for beating oneself up. Lesson learned (again) about how very easy it is to put on weight; now poised to start the next race for actual losing (which we all know is harder than gaining). Will it be another Race to Saint Paddy's Day, or does someone have a new idea. Race to Easter maybe?

I weighed 150.5 this morning, so that is a pound less than my "race to maintain" starting weight. However, it is a pound and a half up from last week, so it's clear that when I indulge my fondness for baked goods which I did this past week, I can gain quickly.:eek2::eek2: DH has gained about 10 pounds over the same amount of time, so he's off to the gym, loaded with all sorts of steely resolve.:wink2: Frankly it makes me tired to think of it, but we'll see if he can guilt me into going with him.:tongue2:

I'm still here - but I'm not sure the exact dates to use for the start of the current "phase."

I'm just about even from last week at this time (up 0.2 lb at 164.6), but I suspect that I was sick with something at the start of last week because I quickly lost a couple of pounds, then once I felt better, put them right back on. I guess holding even for a week, with no trips to the gym, isn't that bad.

After the New Year's holiday, it will be back to my regular gym schedule. I'll see then just how disciplined I am.

Hail to the Redskins! Superbob must have burned up mega-calories last night jumping up and down and giving psychic energy to super rookies Alfred Morris and RG3 as they led the Redskins to the NFC-East championship against the Dallas Cowboys. On to the playoffs! SB is psyched -- looking for more calorie burn.

Happy New Year friends! My resolution this year is to get back my healthy weight and incorporate healthy habits!

Happy New Year, Wise & Cindy and all Throwndowner friends. It is a great time for setting goals. Thanks to Cooker's Throwdown for giving us a venue for making some very important resolutions re fitness and health. I resolve to keep up the dawg-walking, add more exercise to it (biking, swimming), and eat sensibly. Cheers to all!

I resolve to figure out what my resolutions should be. . . but it is too early in the day for that!

An early Happy New Year to all!

I'll be back with my goals and resolutions.

I started out the race and ended the race the same weight ... at one time I was down six but on 12-31-12 I was the same as the day after Thanksgiving so I guess that I did a good job not going into the new year weighing more!!!!

My goal is to gain control of my sweet tooth .... Happy New Year and may this time next year there be "less" of us all:thumbup:

Great job Cooker!

I ended the race a little better than I thought. I weigh 194.5 today, which is up two pounds from the start of te race to maintain. So, that will be my starting weight for the year! Are we racing to St. Patrick's Day next?

I guess my starting weight will be whatever it is on Friday. Currently feeding my face watching astounding bowl games, like the Gamecocks' gutsy win over Michigan. Even this old Vols fan must admit they were amazing. (Congrats, Cooker!) Anyway, I better watch the munchies or I will lose the Maintenance Bowl. :eek2::tongue2:

Well, I think the holidays got to me. Not the calories, in my case, but the added sodium from too many fancy restaurant meals. I weighed in this AM at 166.0. Not my high, by a good margin, but higher than I was a week ago. I'll start from here, and try for control, then reduction. I still have to set a goal, so my goal for the next 2 days is to research that. After that - I have to attain it. Sure sounds simple, but. . .

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is okay. Our scales are reflecting positive changes for both of us headed into next week. I am overall feeling better and am eating much better.
