The Man of Steel (or Jell-O or whatever) is starting the Throwdown thread for the noble Chimp this week.

Careful readers will note I haven't been a very steadfast participant lately. I have been active, but it's been hard to keep the eating under control in recent weeks. But I know I need to do better, and get it back together. Otherwise I will weigh 300 pounds and I doubt either my heart or my knee could bear that burden.

So I will weigh in tomorrow morning.

I hope all our Throwdowners will rally 'round in the next few days. Let us know how you're doing,

All best to all....

Superbob

Okay, I am now down a net of one pound for the year. TDers may remember I was down several pounds at mid-year and humming along. Then I ran into too much Octoberfesting, I reckon. Anyway, it is what it is, and the good news is that I am forcing myself to confront this, and try to do something about it. Trimming 4 pounds would put me back in my target zone for 2013.

How well we all know the feeling when we slip. I think I may be back on track, after a couple of weeks of "binge holidays." We were out of town for a weekend and had a weekend or two of some fancy entertaining. This past week was a short respite, a temporary return to normalcy. The results show it:

Start of year: 164.6

Last week: 158.2
This week: 156.8

YTD: -7.8

But. . . after tomorrow, who knows. We are, once again, entertaining. We are taking some friends to a favorite Greek restaurant in Chicago's GreekTown area. This could be dangerous - not so much from its caloric content as for its sodium content. To most ethnic restaurants, sauces are the stars of the dishes. To a heart patient, sauces are just big tasty salt shakers. I'll try to find something that is worth eating that is not covered in some savory but salty sauce, then I'll have to deal with the outcome in the days after.

Hope all of you are getting to your comfort zones -- winter is coming. To those of you in the Great Southland, that means winds heavy enough to flex the streetlight poles, snow, sleet, sometimes rain falling sideways, and the natural tendency of our bodies to load up and store energy for the long, hard winter. To quote The Great Snoopy. . . "Blecch!"

It was a gorgeous morning for Superdawg's (and my) walk.

Our community center is being renovated and I believe the workout room is going to be off-limits for a while longer. That's a bummer because I need the extra workout to supplement a smell-the-roses walk with Sadie Dawg. Oh well, it will be nice when finished.

Going to my granddaughter's final football game of the season in a little while. Yes, she is the only girl playing in a 10-year-olds' tackle football league. I am from another century and don't really like this, but she is playing wide receiver and has made some great catches. Quite a little athlete, but I like it better when she's playing soccer, softball (or even baseball), basketball, gymnastics or swimming. (I work off calories just thinking about all the energy at that age.) :biggrin2:

Okay hope you all have a nice weekend. Would love to hear from one and all.

I don't have much to say on this forum but I do know that SuperBob faced a Super challenge a few days ago regarding some donuts. Bob, you done good.
(you may have influenced me and so I had 4 of those little donut hole thingies that hubby bought while we were in town).
Stay on track peeps, that little extra scoop of food can pack a lot of calories that are very hard to burn off :)

Back online and down a pound this week!! Trying to lose a bit more before years end but the festive eating is at hand. Hand to mouth that is:biggrin2:

Thanks Bob for grabbing the reins this week.... always good to have SuperBob riding shotgun

2013 Starting Weight: 231
Last Weigh In : 22.0
Todays Weight: 221.0
YTD: -10

The Chimp is back -- yay! :thumb up: Let the good times roll.

And Bina, thanks for checking in. As for the great doughnut saga, DW finally threw away the six that remained from the dozen she had bought at Kroger's (these were the big fat ones that make Krispy Kremes seem like health food by comparison). In fact, had they been KKs the temptation probably would have been too much to resist. :biggrin2:

Now I have to practice restraint with the huge birthday cake she had me purchase. :rolleyes2:

Hello everyone. Hello Bina.

This past week Cindy lost .8 and I stayed exactly the same. She started at 161.4. Last week she was at 157. Now she weighs 156.2.

My weight two weeks ago was 190.8. Last week and this week it is 186. That means I am down 8.5 for the year. I lost a lot of ground, but at least I'm back at it.

Sounds like everyone is doing reasonably well. Catch you all later!

Happy Birthday, Superman !

Hey, thanks and great to see you here, Nelson. Drop in any ol' time -- the Throwdown gang will be happy to see you.

And thanks to Mary and everybody; have had a fun birthday. Walked Superdawg twice (one of my presents is a new St. Louis Cardinals collar for her) -- and we all went to Outback for some mighty good protein….

Oh you dog, you! A St. Louis Cardinal's collar! What a great idea! Do you think it was bought online or at a store? And according to my calculations, you still have a little more than 3 hours to celebrate!

Thanks Wise! And Duffey, I am assuming my son and DIL ordered it online, since they just have a photo to show me today (it's en route)…when I receive it, will let you know where it came from. Maybe I'll post a photo of Superdawg proudly wearing it. :smile2:
