Happy Thanksgiving!!! I'm so thankful for many things!!! I heard a guy say, "what if we did not have the things today that we did not give thanks for yesterday?" Made me think....

Have a great day with family and friends! Mulligans all around:thumbup::thumbup:

Happy Thanksgiving fellow throwdowners! Have a great time at your celebrations. Ours is tomorrow and since there won't be any cheeseburgers there, I will probably concentrate on the yummy green beans and potatoes, corn pudding, baked apples, and maybe a small piece of pumpkin pie.

Going to bodacious buffet at a restaurant perched above a scenic lake today -- will look for the cheeseburgers but doubt they will be found. They do, however, have quail, which my oldest granddaughter loves. I am more for the traditional birds -- and oh yes the standing rib roast! YUM! More feasting this weekend -- including a seafood buffet -- when MB family returns from travels to Virginia. I am taking a whole fistful of mulligans. :eek2::biggrin2: Happy Thanksgiving Throwdowners and extended Throwdown family. :biggrin2:

Sounds like great times with great food! Seafood buffet, oh I'm jealous ; )

As a great man once said. "lets go places and eat things":biggrin2: .... Due to my schedule SuperBob will be taking over the Throwdown until things correct themselves. I know you will enjoy the eloquence of his post and as with me keep him on the downward path (LMAO):wink2:

Good losing:thumbup:

Not bad this week. Cindy lost .5 and I gained .8.

Mary, sounds like your Mulligan was derived at in a most enjoyable fashion!

Cooker, we'll miss you while you're taking care of business but understand. Our superhero will keep us all flying right and entertain us to boot!

Good going, Wise. Good going, Cindy.

At some point in our Throwdown conversations, I would like to explore my inability to leave certain food items alone, once I have taken the first taste. Case in point, the cheesecake bars. I would not stop eating them until the last one was consumed. I'd love to make them for Christmas, but I know I will find myself in the same situation. It's a real downer, which is silly, but it is what it is.

Duffey, you are most certainly not alone. While I don't bake a lot of yummies, I can identify with your problem of wanting to eat until all is gone. For instance, if I would buy a really good key lime pie, I would not doubt be in the same boat. The same would go for a host of other sugar-laden delicacies. I do eat a few too many Hershey kisses, but they are not as much of a prob for me as other things. My personal opinion about your situation is that I would be too hard on yourself. You do this once a year and you were controlled while vacationing. I think you'll bounce back fast.

Superbob has been sabotaged….

By his DW, who insisted on cooking a full Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, even though we already had been to a sumptuous buffet on Thanksgiving Day. Had to have homemade dressing (my downfall), and sweet potato casserole, and cherry pie and sweet potato pie.

By his son, who brought over a dozen doughnuts Saturday and then took us to another lavish buffet Sunday.

By his dawg, Superdawg, who appeared to be on her last legs over the weekend and so couldn't be counted on to give Sb his walking exercise. She was perhaps done in by things fed to her sub rosa by the grandkids -- yes they are to blame, too. (Superdawg is doing better now.)

So bottom line: Superbob bears no responsibility at all for blowing his year-long perseverance regarding food and weight…. it's all the fault of others. They held down the Man of Steel and stuffed slice after whopping slice of sweet potato pie down his mouth. And they forced him to consume one helping after another of cornbread dressing…..:eek2::p

This is a sad saga indeed. What to do, what to do? :rolleyes2:

Can I borrow your explanation?:rolleyes2:

Didn't I see this episode of Monk? Probably only funny to me. Don't worry, that's nothing new hehe.

Anyway, I would like to join the club too. I was forced (talked into) to eat a serving of Cindy's mom's dressing. I wish I had Mrs. Superbob's instead, I'm sure. Cindy's family thinks it's the bomb, but me not so much. I miss my own mother's dressing. Nothing like your own mother's cooking, huh? I do have to say though, that Cindy's 89 year old mother is still a great cook and just because her dressing is subpar doesn't negate how good her carrot cake is. I did have a big piece, but in this case I was a willing victim, hehe.

I'm definitely in.
I came home from an evening walk, feeling very virtuous, to find a platter of warm cookies that a neighbor had dropped by.
The next morning, our Tennessee (he never would have done anything like this when he lived in Missouri) son walked in with a pumpkin pie in his hands.
That afternoon our daughter brought over a container of the fabulous sweet potato casserole I avoided Thanksgiving Day.
All true.
To top it off, family members forced me to consume all the goodies.:eek2:
Wish it were true.:tongue2:

Okay, Bina, you have been challenged. Tell us about your runaway appetite …. uh, for, you know, food. :p Surely you have succumbed to temptations for you know, uh cake or doughnuts or something. :eek2: Fess up! :biggrin2:

Well, I was indeed hesitating to "Confess" at the risk of throwing off the G rating on this Forum, but y'all asked for it......

So, which are your fave 'playtime' foods ?
RediWhip in the can
Melting chocolate kisses
Jello
Licorice ties
:D
