A week from today most of us across the USA will be sitting down to a Thanksgiving feast, I know I will:D ... I have been on track this week and it has paid off ... I’m down 4 pounds and it is due to staying sweets and staying as fat free as I could ... I know what to do, it’s just doing it ... One thing that works for me is not beating myself up, if I eat a cake or a bag of fun size Snickers one day I just try and start fresh the next, which is not always easy ... once I get on a sweets binge it sometimes takes a few days to put a halt to the “anything goes or what’s the use anyway” mind set ... I am just going to try and take it one day at a time, asking myself is this or that particular snack worth it, sometimes the answer is yes and sometimes no, I just need more no’s the yeses ...

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving season I thought it would be nice to share things we are thankful for ... I will start the ball rolling by listing a few of the most significant things in my life that I am thankful for .... as you know Chimp’s are prone to ramble on so these are not in any particular order of importance except for the first one ... I’m grateful for a loving wife of nearly 27 years, being gainfully employed, my health, my friends, having all that I need (not necessarily all I want), family, valvereplacement.com and living a sober life one day at a time ...I am fortunate that God holds a special place in His heart for obnoxious Chimps;)

From the depth of my soul I wish each and every one of you the desires of your heart, good health, love and happiness...

Happy Thanksgiving!! ......

Your village idiot,
Tom:p

Congratulations on the four pound loss! You have walked the walk, and talked the talk this past week, and it has paid off.:)

As I contemplate my blessings, I am so very grateful that our oldest son will make it home for Christmas. He left for Iraq in mid-December, 2006, and although he has made many trips home, this will be his first Christmas with us in almost four years.

I intend to bake and cook up a storm; let the pounds fall where they may and repent at leisure!;)

Great job Cooker. I agree, not beating yourself up about blunders is probably the most important factor to getting back on track.

I'll post our weight on Saturday, but for what I'm thankful for: My wife, her guide dog, family, a mother who raised six kids the best she could, God and my church, friends, health, a nice place to live, food on the table, freedom to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and last but not least, vr.com and my family here.

Happy Countdown to Thanksgiving everybody

Happy Countdown to Thanksgiving everybody

Way to go Cooker! 4 Lbs is excellent! I agree with the no point in crying over spilled milk approach. Plus you can't beat yourself up while you are being thankful!!!

I'm thankful you made me stop to remember to think about all I am thankful for
My things also in no particular order.....

Many the same as you, having a job I actually enjoy and a paycheck, a roof over my head. having health insurance, my family, my Mom's 5 years being breast cancer free. My parents being happily married for 59 years and forever being an insipiration to our family. I'm thankful for their health and mine. For all my lovely nieces and great nieces. That I have had the luck/means to travel and see the world and other cultures. Oh and last but not least - my new computer and finding vr.com and all these nice new supportive friends!

And you thought only chimps could ramble on....

Today was our work Thankgiving pot luck - so much scrumptions stuff.:) I picked just my favs and even brought along a 1/2 cup measure to watch the portions and count my calories best I could. I got kidded - all in good fun, but they admired the 22.6 lbs I've lost (at least before I ate anyway!) . We'll see what the scales say tomorrow. :eek:I had a wonderful meal and proved I could make a plan and work it without feeling depirved. I'll loosen up a bit more on the real day, cause it only comes round once a year after all!

Things seem quiet on the Throwdown this week. Maybe everybody is off being thankful somewhere else.

Laurie, to a dieting novice a .5 loss wouldn't seem like much, but to those of us in the know of how hard it really is when you are so close to goal - that is a big deal. Good job!

Here are my numbers this week. Still battling this bronchitis, but I was more on track.

Starting weight: 224
Last Reported Week (11/6): 206
This week: 202
2 Week loss: - 4
Total loss: -22

This surprised me!!! 4 lbs!? If it was all in one week - I'd crow loud and start some trash talkin' with Cooker and his 4 lb lbs. But since it's really been two weeks, I'll just quietly thank my lucky stars!! :)

Somehow missed this post earlier. This is great news Duffey! I am so very happy for you. Please do me the honor of thanking your son for his service to our country! Happy Thanksgiving to you and I know it'll be a very very Merry Christmas!

Wow, I can't believe how fast the week has gone! Ortho surgeon injected my ankle with steroids again so I'm skipping weighing this week. Are we all taking a pass on Thanksgiving week?????? It would be even one more thing to be thankful about.

Blessings? I am so blessed it is hard to even take it all in. I have been given an unbelievable family and a church family that is just as close. Even though I've had some health problems I don't consider myself "unhealthy" but rather just damaged. I'm thankful too for a business that has held together in spite of these last couple of years. I am also thankful for you all. You have given an added dimension to my life and I care for each of you very much! I'm thankful too that Mary's (Duffy's) son is coming home for Christmas!!!!!!

Cooker, Rhena, you both did great!

Good job Laurie and Rhena!

We're posting modest losses again, but a loss is a loss.

Betty, don't worry about taking a Mulligan. It sounds like it is warranted for sure. It's not how quick we lost it that counts.

Yummo! We just had pancakes with real maple syrup. I used 1/3 cup of Great Value Complete Pancake mix, 1/3 cup water, 1 tsp. of canola oil (in the skillet), and 2 T. of maple syrup. 7 WW pts. Granted that's not a lot of food, BUT it is a treat and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

I'd recommend that pancake mix; it makes perfect pancakes. I'd recommend the real maple syrup too. ;)

Well the eating begins:rolleyes: ... the owner has decided to bring in food such as pastries and muffins and fried turkey etc every week through the end of the holiday season .... what’s a Chimp to do?

Danger Chimp Robinson! (That's a line from "Lost in Chik-fil-A")

Swing from a tree in the other direction! Seriously - all any of us can do this time of year is just do the best we can. Just making it through without a significant gain is a win in my book.

Good for you Wise and Cindy on your slow and steady losses and for counting your points on that pancake treat! As long as you are counting you aren't cheating.... and in your case it certainly wasn't' even remotely close to being a cheat at a mere 7 points...That is what they call program!

Parents arrived today, so the family thing begins too at my house. :)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
