Greetings Loser’s:) ... I have put the old shoulder to the grind stone and dropped 3.5 pounds this week ... I have been extremely busy and probably not eating enough but I’ll take it ... I have a fish fry to attend Friday and a going away party on Sunday so I will intentionally be putting my waist line in harms way:D ... I will try and control myself but I love fried fish and party food ... the only downside to this is that I have been very tired ... get home, eat, try and talk with DW, watch a little TV and end up waking up in the recliner around 4:30AM, stumble to bed then the alarm goes off at 5:00AM ...

So, how has everyone done this week? ... It seems like the Throwdown is back on a pretty good “roll” which is great, I never would have stayed with trying to downsize if was not for all of you, many, many thanks for staying with it and keeping me accountable .... peace out:cool:

Great job Cooker! I have certainly behaved this week, but am not on target to lose 3.5 pounds. That's a good week's work there, Chimp.

Great job Cooker!

Wise, 3.5lbs will be hard for anyone to beat!

I am down at least a pound. It depends which scale I choose to believe but it might actually be more like two. I only got to exercise one day this week. I am not allowed to for the next few days but then I should be able to resume it again. I will have to make a real effort to get back in the habit since I could so easily become a slacker again.

I'm going to be happy to report some sort of gain! :) I told in last week's thread that I'd be starting a new phase of the diet plan I'm following. Beginning yesterday I'm now eating 2000 calories a day - still a certain ratio of carbs to fat to protein. Managed to squeeze in a very portion controlled Tex-mex meal tonight with one margarita. I ate only my alloted 10 chips and black beans instead of refried. It feels like I am eating tons of food now after being on 1200 to 1400 calories a day since early August.

Sounds silly I know, but theory is I have to gain just a little weight for awhile to reset my metabolism after too many weeks of dieting and too many years of yo- yo dieting. I want to know if this works. Sure sounds plausible and is teaching me what it means to eat 'normal' i. e the daily recommended allowance. I always seem to be on one extreme or the other either starving myself or binging on all the wrong things. My goals is to learn how to live in the 'middle' of those two.

Way to go Cooker!! Whooo Hoo! I know what you mean about accountability. I got you guys and the weight loss class I go to at Curves. It helps! just can't seem to get anywhere even trying really hard. I am hoping this 'science' works, Once I gain about 4 lbs, then I go back to 1200 to 1400 calories/day until I take it off and then back to 2000 cals/day until I gain 4 lbs. again and keep that up for awhile before going back to dieitng for a full 4 weeks straight. It should take longer each time to gain the 4lbs as my body adapts to living on more calories.

We shall see......

I'm where I was 2 weeks ago, 133.6, 4.6 over goal. At least it's not up even more. I've been gaining about .5 every week since late August.:(

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm sticking to my diet plan and trying to exercise. The rain doesn't help.

I also stayed the same, 154.2, same as last week. Course that's probably due to last night's dinner of red beans and rice . . . whatever!:p:p

Watch out Chimp Man, next week the duffmeister's gonna leave your scales in the dust! ;):D:D

Did you say you had put your old 3.5 pound stone to the bump and grind and then dropped it, or did I read that wrong?:rolleyes:
Well, whatever happened, it sounds great!:p
Good job!
Duffmeister

I can neither confirm or deny that that question.....

In your dreams ... although I am making a major change in an area (to be revealed at a later date) which may cause some weight gain if not carefully watched ... no banana pudding for a while .... torturer, shear torture.....

Again, thanks and congrats to all that are staying the course....:)

I am shocked, amazed, dumbfounded and happy !! Finally some progress just when I really expected to gain – in fact I was trying to gain!

I am down 2.6 lbs overnight! I kept weighing myself to be sure it was right!! This is the best weight loss I have had in weeks and I actually consumed more calories. I even had my planned Tex Mex meal and margarita last night. Funny thing too… I counted out my 10 allotted chips and didn’t even eat all those. I actually left food on my plate as I got full. This never happens to me at a TexMex meal. Never.

I am sticking with my tune-up plan - I think there is something to this science.

Starting weight: 224
Last Week: 207.4
This week: 204.8
Weekly loss: - 2.6
Total loss: -19.2

I sense some frustration here. Those last few pounds they say are the hardest. I've never had that experience as I never got that close to goal. Hang in there. I walk in the mall 5 days a week which means I can do so rain or shine (just leave the credit cards in the car..) Also better because it is flat and hills can do a number on me and I'm supposed to be keeping my heart rate down. Living in the Hill country of Texas - there are lots of them in my neighborhood.

Good luck and don't give up! Maybe if you have been eating a restricted calorie diet for too long you just need to increase your intake a little to boost your metabolism. Worked for me this week. :)

Back from WW. Here's our weigh-in report.

CINDY:

Starting Weight: 140.8
This Week: 138.4 (7.6 lbs. away from official WW goal)
Total Loss: -2.4

WISE:

Starting Weight: 194.2
This Week: 192.6
Total Loss: -1.6

I'm fine with this loss. I did not cheat this week, but had some slim pickings the last two days. We were eating food at the church where my uncle's visitation and funeral were. You know what church people eat. We, however, did not eat fried chicken and such; we ate around that stuff the best we could.

Good job all. We're all on a downward trend and that's what is important!

Good going Rhea, Wise, and Cindy!:)

Red beans and rice for dinner again last night. The scales don't approve.;)

I looked up red beans and rice on WW. Here's a recipe that might help. Then again, maybe it's a carb sensitivity thing. Who knows? Wishing you a good week Mary.

Slow Cooker Red Beans And Rice: makes 4 servings at 4 points each.

Ingredients
1 spray(s) cooking spray, garlic-flavored
1 small onion(s), chopped
1 medium garlic clove(s), minced
1/2 cup(s) uncooked white rice, converted-variety recommended
1 1/2 cup(s) fat-free chicken broth
14 1/2 oz canned tomato puree, roasted-variety
15 oz canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed
2 slice(s) reduced-fat cooked crisp bacon, crumbled
2 Tbsp canned chipotle sauce
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp table salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp cilantro, fresh, chopped
1 Tbsp scallion(s), chopped (green part only)

Instructions
Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic to skillet and sauté until slightly softened, about 2 to 3 minutes.

Meanwhile, place rice, broth, tomato puree, beans, bacon, chipotle sauce, oregano, salt and pepper in a 3- to 4-quart slow cooker; add sautéed vegetables. Cover and cook on low setting for 3 1/2 hours; stir in cilantro and scallion just before serving. Yields about 1 cup per serving.
Notes
Start this dish on a weekend morning and you'll have lunch waiting for you. But don't keep the beans and rice simmering all day, as the consistency will suffer.

Converted rice is sometimes recommended in slow cooker recipes since the grains do not clump together as much as they do with regular rice. You can, however, use regular white rice if you prefer.
